Civil Union Rally in Hamilton

Around 50 Rally in support of the CUB in Hamilton today.

Around 50 supporters of the proposed Civil Union Bill gathered today in Hamilton's town centre Garden Pl. The rally began at midday outside the City Council offices with supporters handing out balloons and blowing bubbles, creating a festive atmosphere.

Speakers and placards reminded the crowd and challenged opponents to "respect committment, not gender" but there was no sign of any opponenets of the bill. The rally was rounded off with two same-sex couples cutting two mock wedding cakes which then became a tasty refreshment for the crowd. The only thing missing was a nice cup of tea.
