Anti-Labour Party Congress Demo
Thirty protesters raised a wider variety of issues including Labour's support for US wars, GE, attacks on the workers and beneficiaries outside the Wellington Labour Congress, and the theft of the foreshore and seabed. The picket was lively with many taunts thrown back and forth.
The fascist National Front were also visible with a handful of misanthropes. Several speakers made the obvious links between the National Front immigration policies and that it is the Labour Party which are essentially responsible for the economic conditions which mean that the NF are experiencing some marginal growth.

Re: Anti-Labout Party Congress Demo
There was a ot more to this demo than what you see here! The NF and Labour all got a good dose of abuse and hopefully felt our anger!
Cool to see all the people really getting inot the whole thing! and special hugs to the people i hear went back and gave them another round and told the police and security to fuck off!!
awsome.
Fuck labour
Fuck politicians
hopefully soon we (people) will come to our senses!!there is a way forward but this system sure aint it!!
Re: Anti-Labout Party Congress Demo
8 (from memory) of us went back after a quick lunch break, just in time to see the Labour faithful having their tea break through the big glass doors.
Chanting continued until the police came and told us we couldn't stand next to the doors of our own town hall, and so we were pushed back a few steps. Helen was spied shaking hands inside, so some questions were fired at her, to which she did not respond.
Later we went back round the front for more, where the security seemed to think they were the police, ordering us around, but that didn't stop us, and neither did the note handed to us by the Labour party member saying "There are many of us inside who are anti-GE too, but we prefer to do something about it". Sorry ma'am, but Queen Helen and Princess Marion have already had their say, and in un-democratic Labour-land, what they say goes.
More photos to come.
Re: Anti-Labout Party Congress Demo
The person with the "NO FEES" sign was from NZUSA, not the National Front
Re: Anti-Labout Party Congress Demo
the coppa in the last picy was a very angry bastard! and he did not like the pleasant young man in the mask at all! He even made accusations of smelling drugs in a pathetic effort to be a scary. The security was so fucked trying to be officers, fuckin rent-a-cops, all in all a relativly good day for all.
Revolution April 30th!
Re: Anti-Labour Party Congress Demo
by saying a good day for all i meant that they got to pretnd to have power and we got to show that we have no respect for the state and their protectors, maybe come to think of it they did not think it was a success since there was no violence..........
numbers
"by saying a good day for all i meant that they got to pretnd to have power and we got to show that we have no respect for the state and their protectors ..."
Their present power is no pretence.
They do, unfortunately for the planet, have power, right now. As Engels put it, "the state is a body of armed men". One or two more women in there today, but the power/ property relationship is not changed.
Yet.
I thought it was a good cross tendency united front demo giving Hellen and her understudy wannanbe nerdy national front clingons the message.
But if we want POWER of the people we gotta do some hard homework and come back next time with the fucking numbers.
Re: Anti-Labour Party Congress Demo
Well done sticking it to the powers that be. Pity the NF weren't chased away too though!
Re: Anti-Labour Party Congress Demo
The drugs comment was an absolute joke, as was the cop who tried to tell me I wasn't allowed to have a ciggie within 5 metres of him.
As for the NF, they ran away pretty quickly without us having to do much.
Re: Anti-Labour Party Congress Demo
Was good that we did the protest. Its hard work getting people outside the Labour Party conference, even after 5 years in government. As someone once told me "its easy to be 'anti-tory' but people find it harder to be anti the whole system". No sign of the Green Party, likewise the leadership of the Maori Party (though some rank and file did come out to protest which was great).
