Saturday Dinner: Against Occupation in Middle East
The Wellington Palestine Group and Peace Action Wellington hosted a community dinner at Crossways Community Centre in Mt. Victoria last night. Around 50 people enjoyed middle eastern food.
A speaker talked about Peace Actions campaign against the weapons conference hosted at Te Papa in October. There will be a public meeting this Thursday, 29th September, 7pm at the Peoples Centre (Lukes Lane).
A speaker from the Wellington Palestine Group introduced the film 'Control Room' - a 2004 documentary film about Qatar based TV Network Al Jazeera and its relations with the US Central Command, as well as the other news organizations that covered the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
The dinner was part of a global day of action against the occupation of Iraq and Palestine.
