Auckland Supply Chain Strike to Continue Until Monday

Three hundred Progressive distribution workers in Auckland have voted to extended their 48 hour ShelfRespect.org strike to 80 hours and to stop trucks from entering the Supply Chain, says the National Distribution.

The Palmerston North and two Christchurch distribution centres will vote on wether to join the extended strike at 5am when their next shifts begin.

National Advocate and Auckland Organiser Stan Renwick said that the workers voted to continue their strike in response to Progressive escalating the dispute by suspensing fifty striking Palmerston North workers indefinetly unless they return to normal work duties "unconditionally".

He said that the NDU and EMPU members had been going slow and working to rule before going on strike but had decided to walk out when the company failed to respond.

"We are happy to meet with Progressive to commit to a single nationwide agreement that they had previouly prmoied and to stop croiss initiation for ingle ," he said.

Mr Renwick said that the offer for Progressive to talk with workers was open until their next meeting at lunchtime on Monday when they will discuss whether to continue the strike.

Re: Auckland Supply Chain Strike to Continue Until Monday

Simon, good one on the Indy press releases.

But the link on the NDU union website to the strike reportage is pretty average. If you wern't aware that Shelf Respect had something to do with the strike, you would never be able to find anything about the strike on the NDU site.

Perhaps a simple strike photo/hyper-link on the NDU site below the Shelf Respect logo will make it clearer.
