National day of solidarity with Lebanon and Palestine

Saturday September 2nd was declared a national day of solidarity with the people of Lebanon and Palestine who are being brutalised and oppressed by the Israeli military. During the national day of solidarity and during the day before there were 26 Israeli attacks and 42 raids which left 3 Palestinians dead and 19 wounded.

In Auckland on Friday fifteen anti-war protesters made their way to the first-ever shareholders Annual General Meeting of Rakon at the Ellerslie Racecourse. [ Media Release | Report | Petition: End government support for military exports ]

On Saturday, the solidarity demonstration kicked off to a good start with around a hundred and fifty people gathering to watch Ben Swain's dance company perform a hip-hop piece in support of peace and justice followed by a march down Queen Street to the US consulate where US flags were burnt. In Wellington around 100 people marched from Glover Park to Midland Park where speakers from the Green Party (Keith Locke), the Wellington Palestine Group, Aotearoa Jews for Justice and Peace Action Wellington addressed the crowd.

Rosh Hashanna (and the Aotearoa Jews for Justice fundraiser) is on September 22. venue to be confirmed.

i think the wellington palestine group is also organising a dinner on september 16 to commemorate the anniversary of the sabra and shatila massacres and fundraise for lebanon.

Stop Israeli Crimes Against Humanity

As the Lebanese victims of Israeli bombing return to the piles of rubble where their homes once stood, as many as 100,000 Israeli unexploded cluster bombs, most of which were dropped in the last 3 days of the war, continue to claim more victims, mostly women and children.

We, the undersigned, demand that The United Nations General Assembly immediately establish an International Criminal Tribunal for Israel (ICTI) as a 'subsidiary organ' under U.N. Charter Article 22 to prosecute the Israeli Prime Minister Olmert, Defense Minister Peretz, Chief of Staff Halutz and Israel's other top generals and war criminals for their infliction of international war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide against the Peoples of Lebanon and Palestine.
