Illegal bail conditions given to the Clowns
At the time of writing this (9.30pm - 8 hours after the arrests) two people are still in the cells at the Wellington central police station. 12 people were arrested in total today all charged with being "unlawfully on a property" after a demo outside Neal Garnett's house (the head of the New Zealand Defence Industry Association).
Several bail conditions were served: The activists who were arrested today are not allowed to associate with each other (!!!) and are not allowed to go within 400 metres of Neal Garnett's house (120 Ashton Fitchett Drive) nor within 400 metres of Neal Garnett himself! The first hearing is set for Wednesday morning.
With these illegal conditions the cops are clearly trying to stop Peace Action Wellington activists from participating in the demonstrations against the weapons conference on Tuesday and Wednesday because Neal Garnett is the first speaker on Tuesday at Te Papa!
We are going to court tomorrow to challenge these appalling bail conditions (probably the High Court) and fight for our right to protest.

The ridiculous bail conditions were thrown out by the judge today. Now not allowed to approach Neal Garnett or come within 400 metres of his house with a rocket-propelled grenade.

Bail conditions NOT lifted yet, except for one person. Expected to be lifted this morning, though.
