Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
About 20 members of Peace Action Wellington and others took part in a hastily organised protest outside the Ministry of Defence against the recent NZ/Australian incursion into Tonga, aimed at propping up the monarchy.
Victory to the rioters!

Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
There is ugly thuggery behaviour in pro democratic protest movements that have nothing to do with Peace. It is the same as glorifying violence and justifying crime, it is not cool at all. If people want to use violence, then they should not complain if violence is used against them. The innocent civilians and property must be protection, especially in a poor country. Violence must not rule social organization.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
When the country is ruled by an inbred parasite piece of shit like the King of Tonga, the people have a right to rebel. And if they want to burn the property he stole off them, good on them.
If the Tongan monarchy want to use violence then they cant complain when violence is used to overthrow them. Mr G
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I don't think you know much about what's heppening in Tonga Mr g.
The Taumopeau business got burned down, which has nothing to do with your false claim that the King stole from others.
I understand the need for change and we all make mistakes, but while there is Tongan blood in my veins , the King of Tonga is my king.
I don't have to be a Pro-Monarchist to be a loyal human-being and change may need to come but not at all cost.
I pray the good lord will heal & help you sir.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
King Tupou IV's cousin Kololiana Naufahu, the first member of the Tongan royal family to speak publicly since the rioting, yesterday called for convicted rioters to be executed.
"The people involved should be round up and shot really. We have the death penalty here in Tonga," she told TV One last night.
this is off the NZ Herald,
only a criminal would come out with such thought ay, using violent.
Re: Death Penalty in Tonga/Royal Cousin Speaking Out
Suppress violence with violence is the effective way to go. Rioters potentially may take more innocent lives. They did attempt to burn down other individuals' homes working for the government while the families and children were there.
EXECUTE THE RIOTERS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
Re: Re: Death Penalty in Tonga/Royal Cousin Speaking Out
it's stupid people like you that makes matters worse, you mightest well go hang yourself since your so violent too. forgive and forget fob.
Re: Re: Re: Death Penalty in Tonga/Royal Cousin Speaking Out
Execute yourself! Sounds like you need that inner peace.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Death Penalty in Tonga/Royal Cousin Speaking Out
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another
Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down
Put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around . Today before you think of saying an unkind word
Think of someone who can't speak
this is just a thought for us to be thankful for what we have.

Re: Re: Re: Death Penalty in Tonga/Royal Cousin Speaking Out
There should not be any forgive and forget on these matters, as these people have hurt Indian/tongan business, tongan business and tongan people and kill eight people and so the blood of these people of theirs is in their hand. Anyway non of you live in Tonga so you should not speak and non of the royal family bother reading these pages they have better things to do
Re:Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Correction re relationship of Kololiana Naufahu. She is not the king's cousin she is the Queen of Tonga's neice not related to the King. I wouldn't take anything Gloriana says seriously.

Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
90% of the property damaged belonged to people who worked hard to be where they are. What did our King steal from you? Who ever lied to you that the people have a right to rebel? That was no rebellion, that was pure looting, stealing, and vandalism. You see, the prodemoracy group have brainwashed these idiots and anyone else who believe in their lies that life will be better with them at the helm. Not likely, Tonga will still be a third world country, and life will be better with hard work and not ambitious politicians running themselves off the mouth. It is idiots like you, who put your two-cents in that make matters worse.

Thats like saying if the Maori population burn the shit out of New Zealand because the whitemen stole their country than thats is okay with us.
The rioters burn property belonging to other innocent people and result in the lost of innocent lives. The rioters have nothing to do with politic, it has everything to do with racisim, business competition, crapping power.

Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Tongan people are very loving, caring and honour people but when you mess with it.Hatred, anger, destruction and no respect at all will come.Justice we need in the kingdom from Goverment to Churchs. It showing me here that the gov't did not do their job and church leaders did not do their job too.Becareful church leaders what you feed your folk with.
The troops in Tonga for peace but Tongan already peace when they get what they wanted to do.It ok for the troops to be in Tonga because not everyone are the same. Some lawless people are out there.I don't know what happen to our army and police. We need justice in this apartment.I don't know what to do but this is a call for all the churchs leader to preach the good news to the people and not politics(kosi tau).TO all the leaders don't be greedy and selfish.Remeber our motto: GOD AND TONGA ARE OUR INHERITANCE. but now ALL OUR LEADERS AND TONGA ARE OUR INHERITANCE. Remember 1 King of Tonga.Siaosi Tupou 1 says.My people and my lands are in God's hand.It ok to stand for your right but you can't know the book by the cover. You needs to read the whole book and understand the whole story.Amen!
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I am grateful that NZ and Aust. have deployed soldiers to help restore order in Tonga. It is sad to see the handful of people who are protesting against this deployment. I am so glad that both governments are not listening to this handful. They need to do their homework and not randomly take sides without researching what this is all about.

Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
The prime minister of Tonga, Fred Sevele, should resign. It was his inept handling of the inevitable transition from autocracy to democracy which led to the rioting. The king also bears responsibility and he should be stripped of most of his powers. This will happen eventually and it will be up to the king to decide how much more property has to be destroyed and lives lost until it happens. If Australia and New Zealand wish to spend their money defending their interests in Tonga, fine. But they'll just be throwing their money away and creating longterm instability if they try to prop up the old order. Once democracy is installed, there should be an investigation into the business holdings of the royal family and how they were obtained. I'll bet a lot of back taxes could be collected to repair some of the damage done during the rioting.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Why in Good Gods name would you ever think that violence is the answer to anything, especially in Tonga. These are idiots and if Akilisi has anything to do with the organization of these riots than he'll get what's coming to him. Do you people not understand that this distruction to the country will only affect them and NOT the government. The government will be able to tend to their needs, but the poor citizens of Tonga including the idiots that started all this, will have no means to feed their families. I hope these ignorant idiots would wake up and realize that they are only hurting themselves and their families.
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
only good will come out of NZ/AUS being in tonga and the govt off tonga is taking note of what the people are saying, there are some people in tonga that need to be watched and to keep them from making more mistakes and getting in to real trouble and or really hurting someone or them selves, the island will survive and coume out fine and they have in the past, the tongan people are the most wonderful on earth and will find the path and head down it and repair the island and all will be good

Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I don't agree with the democratic movements and attempts for a political reform in Tonga. For a good long time the beautiful island kingdom has been in order and experienced peace under the traditional monarchial system.
How can violence and chaos reflect and promote that a democratic society can successfully reign. Royals and Nobles don't fist fight during political negotiations and yet the Tongatapu's people's number 1 rep has.
The democrats' platform for change is not eligible and does not justify any capability to rule - at least those with a very sensible mind could never understand why they think they should be in power.
One thing I have seen for sure that democrats do well over the years; they are meticulous critics against government; they loathe royal positions and want to be the royals instead; their primary hobby is criticism instead of peaceful negotiation; they campaign prior to election that they are the 'it' for a people's representative - however they don't care for individuals on a personal level.
When have the people's representatives taken time out of their busy schedules' to help a commoner in need? Their ideals for change have only excited the status quo towards a mere theory only.
EXCILE THE DEMOCRATS!
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Has anyone seen any of the Peoples' Representative perform a wellness check on people (workers at stores that were burnt?).
Are the people's representatives' going from home to home (the people that believed and voted them to parliament with good faith) to check if they are ok?
Were the peoples' representatives able to negotiate with the NZ and the Australian government to make sacrifices and assist Tonga in this dire time? Or did the Tonga goverment had to make this choice to help clean up the democrats' mindless actions?
I am sure that families of military personnel whom are being deployed to Tonga to assist with this mess are worried. They have all reasons in the world to be!
When has the government ever come out and showed heart by wreaking destruction to hurt so many innocent people - in order to show what they stand for?
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I know where the respentatives are at!! they are sitting at home and try to figure out what to do with their pay-raise which they argued for, wasting a lot of precious time with some fkmatamata lelei reason "DOING THIS FOR THE SAKE OF THOSE THAT WILL REPRESENT THE PEOPLE IN THE FUTURE" This payraise is backdated to the time when parliarment was in session in 2005. OH yea!, after plan A was completed- THE BURNING OF town" so Tongans wont have time to think about the payraise.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
That's right friend. no one is talking about the dodgy PAYRISE that they got for themselves. and how TIMELY to have the riot so that everyone's focus will be on govt's shortfalls on not the "wolves in sheep clothing" standing amongst the people. Since when does democracy and human rights (the motto they AP & all proclaim) include looting, theft, mass destruction, blatan discrimination for minorities & the ruin of an economy that will further impoverish the poor? In this whole scenario -- the govt seems to be the LESSER OF TWO EVILS.

Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Hail to the Protests! Why not? Does any of you have a family member sent out on a peacekeeping mission or sent to war? How would you feel?
Tongans responsible for the riots and participating in it; as well as sympathizers to that movement owe all the NZ and Australian families who are risking their lives on these Tongans' mindless actions?
Tell me; if you burnt down a property not belonging to yourself; you'd still think you are sane that someone else be clean up the mess on your behalf? Is this the Tongan that you are?
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I disagree with you and to make my point would like to burn down your house.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Sorry but you have to have some little brain and a lots of stuff to burn his 3200sq ft house, its not the same with the little 11sq ft shack at whatever motu you came from, dont worry about rebutting, my little shack waws aw little bigger, 13sq ft. and I have a little more brain, not to be evil and anyone's house or shack, even if it is 11aq ft.

Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. Those who try to cling to the old order will only bring more suffering to Tonga. "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." -- Charles Darwin
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
What? Burn down my house? Sounds like you need to check into a mental institution? Or maybe a mental institution is too good for you? Your mind is just as black as the smoking buildings in Tonga....correct? Yes!
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
hey thats okay boss, let him burn down your house. im sure you have insurance. there s this guy that is serving in the tongan jail and his name is uili tohotoho(uili the rapist) dumphucks like the one who wants to burn down ur house will report in to mr. tohotoho in jail. the uniform of the day is... no clothes, u know what happen after that. anyway, dont worry be happy
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
All of you riot sympathizers and so called 'anti cling to old order' make a good fit for Saddam's Regime...since your typical 'control by violence' style ring true here in this discussion.
Why did the international court deem Saddam's punishment by 'hanging' let alone giving the chance to 'pend'.
Should his outcome be yours too?
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Ummm...first you denounce violence when done by the people, then you applaud it when done by governements. You are not against violence, you are against people taking initiative. Learn the difference.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Ummm....problem with your thinking above is that you have a RARE DISORDER IN UNDERSTANDING WHAT VIOLENCE is.
Your ITCH against government (and I reference what someone else mentioned here) IS A PITY CASE. You think you are smarter than government...then show us what shit you got?
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
yeah right! But in Charles Darwins remark it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that he meant change in presenting referendum NOT TO BE AN ARSONIST, RIOTERS, LOOTERS, OR KILLERS YOU MORON!
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Tonga does not need the intelligence of Charles Darwin to make a difference in our ideas. We and our ancestors have our own outstanding philosophies on politics and no need for Darwin.
He may benefit your thinking but enough though.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
The only MORON in Tonga is 'Akilisi and his followers for wanting so bad to be royalists. Have you even seen what they look like in real life?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga

'akilisi - face lift gone bad

If anyone resembled Sadam, it was His Royal Highness King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV, RIP.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
The king of Tonga has not mutilated and committed violent acts towards life though! You want him bad to be like Saddam when he has not.
People like you show your unlimited support for the burning down of the city; the killing of 8 innocent people; the sacrifice of others. Only 1 word in the English vocabulary known to man describe your being.....and that is 'lawlessness'.
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Don't take it as Peace. It is Politic.Lets give it a little change, and things will be settled unharmed. Mr Prime Minister. . Step Down . Things going worst,if you insist.kindly step down and you'll be safe. Mr King.you're alcholic so .you've lived enough luxury life with FOXES only in your head.and it's time to let the people governed their own. If it is democracy that will make them happy, GIVE IT ,WHY hold on to it.Let those people in prison free unhurt, if without your selfishness, they may not be greatly hurt.so worry now about your own security ,you're the creator of danger
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
A terrible nightmare has happened to us, whereever we are, us Tongans has a big loss. Our families in Tonga must be dramatized with the experience we had when 9/11 of 2000 happened. sympathize with the families of the innocent people who died in the fire, even the families of those who started the fire at the shoreline and got trapped and died. Our deported sons in Tonga have comitted henious crimes, and a lot of them, if not all, were participators of the riot, and we can reach them at the jail in Tonga, if they cant be reached in jail, then they perished in the fire.

Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
The Tongan PM Fred Sevele holds a legitimate PhD and it is only fair for me to say that his position as a Prime Minister is fair. What kind of organization would require lesser credibility for such a coveted and prominent political position?
How many peoples' representatives have a PhD; history of successful leadership; evidence of business acumen; keen insight for political change while upholding peace?
The US and many other hardworking countries are currently in Iraq because Saddam Hussein was not able to make political changes peacefully and non-violently.
This is Tonga's current situation. Other wonderful countries have to share their peacekeeping resources because the democrats are incapable of bringing about needed change whilst protecting the commoners.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Having a PhD does not legitimise your case for being PM. To be Prime Minister, you need to make decisions, good or bad, but just make one so that you can move the debate along. You are paid the big bucks to make those decisions. In this case, everyone was sitting on the fence and were playing with fire (literally). The PM cannot cower behind T5 on this one. Everyone is guilty - the govt for delaying delaying delayin, the pro-democracy leaders who incited the public and the thugs who burnt the buildings, but blame has to go to the top - the PM is not free of that blame and they all should ask why the let it get to the point where people felt they had no other choice but to riot.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
The honest truth is; having a PhD qualified him for a PM and strong critic like and all other critics in Tonga could not have made it to that position with your dull reasoning.
Tonga was not born with Democracy; and even when people really want to be a royal or want a spot/say in government; it basically boils down to - there is no opportunity there for people like you. You all love to babble all the time without convincing government and allowing them to do a background check for a PM.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
The US are not able to make political change peacefully and non-violently. If they could their military would not be occupying Iraq and killing its civilians. Bush and Saddam are two sides of the same despotic coin.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Exactly! US has a peaceful democracy in place...why in Iraq? why bother Saddam? (or why was Hitler hunted down aggressively?)
'Aikilisi Pohiva of Tonga (plus his political aides) is the Saddam and Hitler of the South Pacific - selfishly wanting power using VIOLENCE.
Demos of Tonga should be hanged including supporters like you. Any court hearing your case would feel guilt throughout life should they spare you.

Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Fred Sevele may have a PhD but it really blew it when he created the conditions that let to the rioting. After all, Sevele and the king were in power. They should have seen the trouble coming. They should have let people know what was going on instead of trying to make all the decisions behind closed doors while making people think they were only stalling. Tongans had to put up with that sort of thing for 39 years under the old king. If Sevele and the old guard try to hang on, what happened in Nukualofa last week is only the beginning....
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Fred Sevele did not light the match that torched the whole city. He did not make that decision! How can he be responsible?
Everyone made their choices and so did rioters, looters, and arsonists! No one else can be responsible for their crime but them. Them and the peoples' reps that have sparked this necessity to bring about a change that could never be birthed in a land that is only meant for kings, and yes, kings that know how to lead and who truly love its people. Tonga is not meant to be led by commoners and will never be.
Which country in the world operates leadership by reporting to people what they meet on daily? Rioters do not deserve to be reported to and listened to at all. The LAW hereon will respond to their needs as they have been verbally threatening and now physically abusive to the Tongan infrastructure.
Who will account for peoples' susceptibility to violence moving forward? The neibouring countries will and so as our local government - these are the people that truly care.
Tongans that cannot bear living under traditional leadership have the option of moving out to a land with laws and leadership they can coincide with. No one has the right to demand change in Tonga.
Shipping out is the better option because as now we see, the only other option is to ship to the Tolitoli Jail. This is the best that democrats' can attain in life - enhance an environment that only the LOW in life go to.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
'No one has the right to demand change in Tonga'..in my own country??? Where are you from??? As a Tongan, I will stay put in the country of my birth and DEMAND that I participate to make the country what I want it to be, a country where I can bring my children up according to the beliefs that I have. IF, for some reason my participation is not heard or acknowledged by those in power, I can perservere, but if it gets to the point where my voice is not heard, my children do not have jobs because the economy is going downhill, and we have to kai hamu for most week days yet still contribute to church and nobles feasts, then that will be the day when I may need to shout louder.
You have to ask yourself why there was a situation that allowed the rioters to behave as they did. This is not saying what they did was right. It was illegal and senseless, but the king and govt are not free of blame.
The govt did not need to light the match for the arsonists. Instead, the govt were the falekoloa owners who sold them the box of matches. The pro-democracy leaders were the ones who told the arsonists to go to the falekoloa to buy the matches. If the shopowner had a loaf of bread on offer, the arsonist would have a choice between bread or matches. On this occassion, there was no bread, just big fat match boxes, given to someone who the shopowner knows will go straight out and light the town up.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Damn Right! In your own country! In every country; there is a traditional process in bringing about political change. Try understanding how to negotiate and let that take its course! That is how the profession of politcal change goes.
Rioters and pro-demos agitated each other and ultimately planned out an attack on the government that will only make things worse for everyone as a whole.
Tonga has spoiled you bad because something that you and democrats do best is THREATEN THE GOVERNMENT OF TONGA! No country tolerates that and you are all going to be responsible as no one will hear out your poor reasoning and justification. Can Akilisi Pohiva, Clive Edwards, and Uliti Uata (all all people's reps) save the ass of the jailed rioters now. Will they supplement your loss now?
Does Finau Tutone and all pro-looters have the income to cater for the loss?
Do you yourself have the $$$$$$ for Tonga right now that you can assist to mend things without having people wait.
Demanding people like you are always for sure people in NEED!
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Much appreciation is herewith convey to the Peace Action Wellington group for your support in our fight for a more Democratic Gov't here in Tonga that will further the Peace our small island has.
If the current Political System continues, there won't be any peace in our small island paradise in the future.
Don't worry there's order in Tonga already. We welcome the Aust/NZ troops to help pick up the rubbish and clean our town.
The majority of the People now are happy that they've been promised the Political Reform to take place in the next General Election in 2008. They have also submitted a petition to the King in the weekend to fire the PM & Ministers as they have been the cause of the problems here in Tonga, by not advising the King properly in order to keep the peace.
But we know our King anyway, being a stubborn spoiled brat, he wants everything and the all the little money our poor country has. The PM & Ministers should resign if they cannot do their job properly. Let the King do his own dirty work and the People will soon have him following his two Indian Business Friends to NZ.
Keep up the good work railing for Peace throughout the Pacific.
With much appreciation, A Member from the People's National Committee for Political Reform (chaired by 'Akilisi Pohiva, the People's No.1 MP) from the Heart of Nuku'alofa.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
May the King and the Prime Minister prevail! My thoughts are with all you royals and nobles who have maintained your dignity throughout this ordeal.
May you members of the People's National Committee for Political Reform only get to see the rubble of the DEMOCRATIC ARSONITISTS SOCIETY that you have worked hard for years to build.
In regards to the King's Indian assistants! Knowing how democrats love the $$$$$$$$....hear this out readers!!!! If they were presented the flashing salaries as the Indian guys; these demos would have worked for the King too and yeah! fled Tonga by now to NZ. Pay these guys and gals the millions - they'd immediately resign from this hypocritical DEMOS for GEMS society too.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
The Peoples' MPs deserve their their latest salary rise. They have working hard for the People. Only the King and his Indian Assistants did not deserve their $500,000 - $600,000+ salaries!! That is robbing us of our blood. Big fat brown blood suckers!
Don't you know that the PM & Ministers will get the same salary rise as the MPs? In addition to their Ministerial salaries which is proposed at $70,000 - $90,000? For doing what, nothing!! Most of the work is done by Level 1 - Level 14 of the Government Public Servants!! All they do is listen to what the fat brown blood sucker of a slug tells them to do and no wonder the People start burning down our city. Ko e ha'u ia 'ae hake 'ae kataki ki he ngata'angaa
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Nothing is more deserving than sustaining livelihood, peoples' jobs (which is now deflated in ashes). Have you thought of the families and parents of those individuals that were burned to death? If so, what have you done for them? People do not need to die to bring about change!
What have the People's MPs ensured and guaranteed with their brainwashed supporters that they will be around to prevent jailing for them?
Since when should work be run from the bottom up? We too hard workers have to have bosses though perfect or not - but that's what makes an org operable? This is the way it is.
The Tongan traditional government have had so much patience with limited thinking individuals like you.
And as mentioned by someone else earlier in this forum and I believe now that it is true - THAT ALL YOU DEMOS THINK OF IS $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. That is all that matters.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
It's King V who thinks about $$$$$ all the time. Look at how he robbed us of the electricity in order to have the $600,000+ salaray from the cents that we put together.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Yes, it takes $600,000 to be in his position. If any other company (local or abroad) pays this salary range to its CEO then why not in Tonga. You've discriminated against his status as a Prince and now a King that you have failed to realize the reality of a CEO payscale. Other countries pay this too, no one said that Tonga can't.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tong
I think you've missed the point on two counts. One is your assumption that electricity infrastructure which was developed and paid for by the people should be run as a profit-making corporation. There are other options, check out the way the waters supply has been run in Cochabamba, Bolivia since it was taken back from Bechtel corporation.
Your second assumption is that because corporate CEOs are paid a salary many hundreds of times greater than the wages of the people actually doing the work in their company in some countries that this is right and necessary. Arguably it is neither. There is plenty of evidence that workers can manage their own workplaces without a separate class of management at all, let alone one taking the lion's share of what their work earns. For examples look at all the worker-run co-operatives whose goods are sold through Trade Aid for example Look at the factory workers who took over their factories during Argentina's financial crisis (see the film The Take). Look at the community garden co-operatives in Cuba that supply much of the food for their neighbourhoods (see the film The Power of Community).
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in
I can help your blind eyes see my points.
People did not develop and pay for the electric corp. to run. They were given jobs to help run it, and it was run to the ground and government had to save it.
Maybe in your country (sounds similar to Demos in Tonga)... why have so much want to paid the equivalent of a CEOs salary? This is UNTAMED THINKING, no doubt! This is also sad that people like you have not nor could not come to grips with reality.
Why should anyone expect to walk into a company and expect to get paid similar with their boss? You are there to work but prior to you working you agree to the salary you will be given.
And yes, CEOs have a drastic salary level because it is deserved and workers can't contest that. A CEO responsibility is not cheap like weaving.
What people here like you look for is to 'take a shit' and still get paid for it.
South America and Cuba are fine but I recommend that you get advanced academic training. It will make a difference.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
What about the Royal Princess Pilo? She persuade their Father to give her the Nation's Satelite slots and she's earning millions of dollars from it. With this money she used it to fly around the globe with their lover-boy, Leava'a, for nearly 10 years until she was found red-handed in a hotel overseas.... Return our satelite slots ..........
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I don't see an issue with that! So what! She is a princess. You prefer she travel the world in a canoe? Will that make you happy?
Put it this way, if you were a princess! You'd do that too mah friend. Matter of fuct is! You no princess!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
She took the nation's gold (satelite slots) which belonged to Gov't & the People for nothing to gain millions. The same as how her brother (King V) took the electricity for nothing to gain millions. That's the issue of why the people are pushing for political reform. To prevent them from taking our nation's pots of gold for their own misusing the powers in the Constitution. what's wrong with sharing the millions with the People through Gov't, to build our country. Instead they only want it for themselves!! Open your eyes before the whole country goes down with them from their own selfishness....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Aah! You people prefer you own the satelite slots yourself and run it better. Sorry! These slots could never be yours.
Go ask your own father to give you an orbital slot so you yourself can make millions from that. Also, go start up your own nation and run its electrical operations so you can get some self satisfaction.
Why don't you try travelling the world and post countries and leaders that share their earnings with everyone as an obligation? It is not wrong for royals and nobles to work, run a business as they see fit.
Tongans still go the Vaiola Hospital and still get medical treatment endlessly for free. Safety has been a guarantee in Tonga until lately. Security control was always great to have around but not anymore. Education is abundant in Tonga, funded and run by government so all can be blessed etc.
There are many benefits to Tonga from the traditional system. Unfortunately, democratic politicians have struck the very source of existence of all Tongan people, because they only want political fame and money for themselves. They need to open their eyes unless still shut - to the destruction they have brought about to the kingdom.
The problems these days is that democrats in Tonga believe that they are smart enough to run a country. This is all speech and it is all pretense.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
We are all princesses and princes in the eyes of our parents and of God. It how we use our status in the society wisely and to help others is what matters!! Don't be a selfish princess!! It's not of God....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Don't wish to be a princess when you are not and you will find yourself not complaining.
It is ok for princesses to be who they are; Princess Pilolevu has not harmed anyone nor taken a life. She is a strong contributor to peace and the development of Tonga as a whole.
Many people have criticized poor Princess Pilolevu for who she is when God has chosen her to be one on this earth.
Why complain here regarding a princess that you don't even know personally?
Go ahead and write/phone call the Democratic Party to propose legislation for 2007 for non-princesses to be granted the title of a princess. This is a harmless and more responsible route of getting this accomplished.

i agree with the supreme court judge in Tonga that what the rioters and demo dreamers did is a grave crime and it is good that death penalty is still allowed in the constitution.
the sun did shine on Tonga's PM because he is acadmically bright (a PhD) and physically has bright skin complexion.
you did not want the sun to shine on anyone else because when it shone on you IT DID FRY YOU and YOUR BRAINS TOO!

theres totally no need so such profane language, satan has got you right around his fingers, theres no need for hatered, no need for pointing fingers, we have no right to judge others. we hear gossip but we dont know the truth, and certainly no need to point fingers at akilisi or the prime minister or the king we have no right to judge them, we are all responsible for our own actions, this is a trial we have been tested. and for you people that are using unkind words (kapekape) we all know that your parents did not teach you those words becouse they are good people dont give them a bad name, God bless you all and hope you follow him not satan.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
we are in an era of 'freedom of speech', this forum is for expression and not for preaching. you wanna preach, save it for a chapel. this is a thread for voicing opinion and should never be taken as offense.
switch to the discussion that has moderation and you might feel better there.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Although we encourage people to express their views freely using this website we also encourage them to do so with some empathy and respect for each other as equals. A calmer conversation is more likely to come up with solutions that everyone can live with.

Strypey, did Saddam make you do this too?
Re: Re: STRYPEY IS A STRIPPER
If 'strippey' oh i mean 'strypey' is a stripper in real life then why get interested in the affairs of Tonga? Don't he/she already have a profession?
Re: Re: Re: STRYPEY IS A STRIPPER
from what i understand is that stripping ain't a profession. its only for those who are desperate for money and can't find any other decent job in their society.
it is really a PITY that STRYPEY is not making it in his/her community. stripping is like giving free oral sex first and then only get paid what the serviced person thinks of how good the service given is.

We express our feelings, but sometimes we dont really mean it, coz we are loving and helping people we make mistakes but we learn from those mistakes, lets make tonga a better place by working together, help the Government to make Tonga a better place by marching forward no backwards, respect our leaders, I know all of you people out there dont want this to happen again, I love the tongan people, there friendship and everything, respect our king no matter what, respect our peolple, tonga will always be our homeland.
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Kalafi Moala for Prime Minister...or King
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Kalafi Moala...for Prime Minister of his own media company. I'd go for that.
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Tongan working class people uprise against your oppressor, fight imperialism, british aristocracy cleverly hidden as the tradition king system, capitalism and neo liberalism in your country.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Right! Uprise against your oppressor, your very own Peoples Representatives. They burned your families alive!
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
It's the Tu'i 5 who burned us alive for his stubborness in refusing the Political Reform already spelt out in the Tu'ipelehake's Report...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Your own stubborness and impatience burned yourselves alive. The King does not light his own match. Got it?
He does not need to loot!
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
In the past the police have imprisoned pro-democracy leaders, and the government repeatedly confiscated the newspaper The Tongan Times because the editor had been vocally critical of the king's mistakes. It is time for freedom in Tonga.
The people have spoken time and time again, they demand change, they demand accountability of the Tonga royalty, they demand freedom to read other views without the fear of arrest, they demand freedom to not be a part of the church system without fear of arrest, they demand to be treated with respect and honour, and not be patronised by the toffy nosed aristocrats filling their pockets with plunder from the Tongan people.
Uprise against Imperialism wherever it shows its ugly head!
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Law is Justice not Complete Freedom. You get punished for your crime because you have to be responsible.
Imprisonment of the political Einstein wanna-be Akilisi Pohiva was necessary to suppress potential riots back then.
Non-compliant media moguls were ousted from the kingdom due to selfishness in promoting political stability.
You people have too many demands that you think we are your uncle we'd give that to you.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
you need to read more history book, particularly the Fall oF Russian Tsarism, search on the net.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Oh! That book is for Russians not for Tonga! K?
Here's a helpful feedback for you though; if you can align your perceptions with Tonga and how misfitting the application of foreign countries' political leadership can be...you would definitely rethink your statement above.
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
As a gay person I had no choice but to leave Tonga for fear of reprisals. I then felt that the new king being obviously a gay man have more leniency toward the gay lifestyle and make moves to protect us but sadly it seems this is not so as he still remains in the closet.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
You wanted him to be gay because you are; your promiscuous thoughts led you astray!
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Yuck! He probably also repeatedly imagined himself and our precious king in a closet. What sick wishful thinking.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Is this another case of the emperors clothes or are you just unwilling to see the obvious, he is plainly gay, and there is nothing wrong with that.
The only thing wrong with it is the way in which openly gay people are oppressed by this closet homosexual and bigot.
Re: King of Tonga - Gay?
Sounds like you are a gay person and love to label successful people as such since you are alone in your world of sin. You are obviously lonely and desperate to tar others' that you cannot measure up to. Not in this life and not in the next. Not ever!
Mind this though! You as a gay person is dirtier than the burned ashes in Tonga.
The only difference is that the ashes in Tonga can be cleaned BUT NOT YOU!
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
What is Tonga coming 2?..Well about the protest of nz/aus troops being in Tonga..OH MY GOSH dont you think that our troops back home have better things to do then deal with something that ended so childishly..they are there to HELP durrrrrrr "PROTESTERS GET AND EDUCATION AND GET A LIFE"..I feel for the people that lost so much in the fires..Tongans around the globe feel the pain or the happiness in what happened in Tonga..In my opinion BOTTOM LINE VILENCE DOESNT SOLVE ANYTHING..What these people did was a crime...i hope that people get punished for there action..People have lost alot of years of hard work to build there business to better there lives in Tonga and Tonga itself..I'm sure Tonga will rebuild it self one day..I feel sorry for the minds of those people who thought burning down most of the business in Nukualofa accomplished something.. well now they can just stare out to sea and smell the smoke that surrounds them..The only people they have hurt in this are themselves in the long run and there fellow tongans..GOD BLESS YOU ALL IN TONGA.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I don't condone violence in any form, and I condemn the ugly destruction we had been witness few days ago. But what we can say, what I think ‘...history repeat itself.‘ In history of time and to nowadays violence solve are lots of thing, for instances, read End of History by Prof. Fukyama, by the way that‘s not the case here, I prefer to talk about the foreign troops.
The deployment of the foreign forces in Tonga is on principle not in the ideas of supporting the doctrines of the existing ruling class, but people in need as a whole. Deployment or the military logistic are expensive and risky particularly in respond to emergency.
We should respect and appreciate the ANZ-diggers for their expertise, doing their duty side by side with our small regiment and our police forces to restore order and importantly their present bring hopes and moral support. ANZ-Governments might have interests in Tonga but thats not the case here, our poor country need help itself and their present commit their task to in line with the UN and other international organizations advocating human rights and dignity. They have responsibilities and role to execute in Tonga in the expense of their countrymen pockets, so let us pray to the good Lord and thanks him for their arrival, fortunately we still floating.
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I'd like to ask just what people mean when they talk about restoring order? Whose order?
Imagine if the people of this country rose up in protest against a corrupt government and Australian troops were patrolling our streets with guns to enforce that government's orders. I for one for would not welcome them.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga

Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Great Talking Points Here!
I myself wish I could get free healthcare, free property tax, peaceful surrounding, etc. I would like to live in a country like this.
How can these people demand a salary in the fashion they did and still got granted? I have to prove myself with my company in order to get one...once or twice every year unless I am promoted!
I don't understand why Tongans in Tonga are so demanding.
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Wow, it seems as though everyone seems to know what they are talking about. As a Tongan/Australian who works for the Australian government in the very department that sent troops to Tonga, the thought of acting on or in an "imperialist" manner is totally wrong and suggest that you do some research before you bag out those who are sacraficing their men and women, who are already serving in the Solomans, East Timor, Afghanastan, Iraq and now in Tonga. Australians believe that we are helping a friend in need and we did not impeach any international laws by sending troops to tonga! YOUR GOVERNMENT WANTED US THERE! For countless years the Australian and New Zealand governments have financially supported the small and poor nation of Tonga for the belief that because we are the wealthiest country in the region it is our DUTY to help those in need. What can Australia gain from Tonga?! i don't mean to say that Tonga can't offer us anything, but what can Tonga offer Australia that they can't get anywhere else?! i just don't think that you understand?! man...we are there to help...and another fact of the matter is that we do not do the dirty work of the Tongan government. The joint Army and Federal Police contingent from Aus/NZ takes orders from the Australian and New Zealand Prime ministers...and out main mission is to Secure significant infastructure such as the airport and government buildings...to ensure that peace reigns in the otherwise peaceful nation and to ensure the safety and security of ALL Tongans and foreign nationals within the country...anything else?
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
"God Is Great will harmonize the voices of evil and all Tongan will be together at once"
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
I totally agree with this comment, AUS/NZ are there to help, some people just dont understand
never think before they speak.
Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
Love that traditional Tongan royal clothing…
Big Ups to the peeps of tonga but you need to do something about that toffee-pop King of yours, he looks a bit kooky and talks like a stuck up british tea drinking fruitybix.
Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
No! He's got a nice expensive suit on!
Where's Yours?
Re: Re: Re: Protest Aginst NZ/AUS Troops in Tonga
LOL@EXPENSIVE SUIT!! BOUGHT W/THE "PEOPLES" MONEY!!
Picture of Tonga King - What He Wears
The King works too. A real job just like anyone else. His parents and their parents (endless) worked too. No commoner bought that suit for him.
He did/does not have an issue with you complaining about not being able to wear clothing and a title like his because you are a 'PITY CASE'....like the homeless.

I WILL REPLY WITH THIS

By David P. Forester, San Diego California …. Proud to put my name on what I say.
Here is my first thought about your above comments, if you are so strong and secure in your country why do you not put your name and where you live on your comments. Are you afraid of what might happen to you if you do? You see my view point is that if you feel so strongly as to write something like that then you should be proud of it.
Yes that is a very nice suit of clothes, but would he be less a king if he was wearing a suit that cost $150.00 US dollars from J.C. Penney. Oh I am sorry he is a king that means that he should be wearing a suit that costs $2,500 US Dollars, like maybe an Armani. But I should be shot for that kind of thinking, he is a King of a Nation. He should be displayed in his traditional glory.
After all, with all the major powers of the world coming to his coronation; like the President of the United States, the Prime Minister and the Queen of England, not mention the PMs for Germany (both of them), France, Italy, Greece, Canada; you know all those really important people who wear regular suits of clothing that require a credit card to buy at any store world wide, (you do know what a credit card is don’t you) wear to every top Government meeting in the World.
You see my ass kissing friend, its not the fact that you have defended the kings cloths that has pissed me off, it’s the cost of looking like something you are not that has angered me most. You think that he is a King. He is a pompus ass that is dressed in the money of the people that he is the famed ruler of, in other words you, you dumb shit. That is your paunga that he is wearing not his.
He is wearing military metals on his uniform for what, where did he serve? Wait a minute I forgot he was educated in England at Oxford, that means he more than likely served in a pub, and the metal are for not spilling any drinks right??
Wake up you backward ass kissing fool, all this show is one of the reason you have the trouble that you have in TONGA. All show and no background. I have traveled to your country many times and when I have been asked by people what I think of a country that they have never heard of, this is what I say.
Tonga is a beautiful country and the people are so very nice and friendly, but the whole place is like a Hollywood studio, it looks real in front but there is nothing but timber holding it up from the back. In Tonga all things are only half way done. Because there is not enough money to finish it all the way, maybe it’s because the King spends too much money on cloths.
The Kings duty is to his people, not to his closet, wallet or his mirror. You told some one that they are a 'PITY CASE'....like the homeless. That my friend was rude, deeming and ignorant to have said, it shows you small mind (chicken head). Because someone thinks that money is better spent on real life thing that can be used every day does not mean that they are homeless or to be Pittyed (sorry I do not know how to spell this word). They should be look up to for speaking their mind. After all dummy you might become homeless if your country doesn’t get its act together soon.
The New King is just like his father he has not worked a total day in his adult life. He has been raised with you sweet and blood and money. He has been given the chance to rise above and to become rich, have you been given the same? If you had then you would not be saying dumb ass stuff like what you said above so go back to the bush and have a beer or drink some more Kava, cause I know that you are high on something other than brain power.
Look around your kingdom is in ruin, that has a higher meaning to me, not the Kings cloths.
DO YOU GET MY POINT DUMMY; THINK ABOOUT WHAT IMPORTANT SHOW SOME BRAINS AND HANG THE FASHION SENCE CRAP CHICKEN HEAD.
Re: Re: TO WHAT THE KING WEARS WHO CARES
Attn: David Pee Forester...I can also help you make your name on this forums' fame:
IF YOU HAVE NOT REALIZED YOU ARE ONE OF THE DAMNED!
IF you had money like the royals you would not have complained but clearly above you are deeply offended being a PITY CASE...
It sounds like life has CRAPPED on your face many times over :-)
Re: Re: Re: TO WHAT THE KING WEARS WHO CARES
No sorry my friend I am not that person at all. I make a good living and own everthing I have. Because I worked for it. My home, my cars, my boat, my cloths, food, drink, i paid for it you stupid fuck not the people around me, but me, I did it all.
Suprise I am not even a king and I still did it all myself you dumb fuck get a real life asshole get a real ruler asshole get a real brain, chicken head.
Re: Re: Re: Re: TO WHAT THE KING WEARS WHO CARES
that's right YOU COULD NEVER BE KING!
did you pee and crap all over you stuff then licked them back clean? this is why you are complaining i'm sure. either that you took a crap and then ate it yourself.
