Re: CHCH FREE MONTHLY FILM NIGHT DEDICATED TO THE PEOPLE OF OAXA

This is an excellent film. The film maker Jill Friedberg is currently in Oaxaca documenting the events there. It tells the story of the rural teachers of Chiapas and Oaxaca from the revolution of 1910 to 2004. In particular it shows how the rural teachers are the link between the indigenous campesinos and the trade unions, as they fight the corrupt leadership of their own union to defend public education. It is a very good background to the formation of the APPO in Oaxaca, a popular assembly that has the potential to be a model for uniting all Mexico against the corrupt PRI/PAN regime and to break with NAFTA and US imperialism.
Jill contributes to the Yahoo group Oaxacastudyactiongroup and you can find a recent commentary on the recent PFP repression of APPO on
