Protesters Welcomes Delegates to Meat Conference
Around 30 perotesters Welcomed Delegates to a meat conference in wellington. The activists Chanted and screamed at delegates to the conference of meat industry executives from all over the world. Police guarded all the entrances and maintained a no go line which if crossed would result in the arrest of activists. The delegates were agitated and angered by the protesters and the cacophony of noise from drums, whistles, air horns and chanting. Public were informed as to why the protest was taking place and our opposition to the ongoing slaughter of animals.
After the mornings protest Meat on Tory a deli selling high priced meats was stormed by activists, Meat on Tory sell foi grasse and veal to up market wellingtonians. THe store was occupied for a few minutes until police arrived. One of the staff members repeatedly assaulted an activists attempting to remove her from the building.
This is the first of several protests during the confernce with public invited to the main protest on saturday (tomorrow) at 11am outside Te Papa.

Hmm, I always thought vegans a little strange. Now I see they're physically odd too. These photos all show strange cotton wool-like growths on their faces. That old vitamin deficiency gets ya every time.

Have the animals been invited too? I'm sure under Bradford and Fitz they have more rights and freedoms than humans...

The last poster needs to engage brain before fingers. Anyone can quite clearly easily check the Green Party Animal Welfare policy through their website (www.greens.org.nz). The policy goes further than that of other parties in banning the worst cases of factory farming, and the new policy under discussion will go even further (if ratified) by endorsing plant-based (ie vegan) diets as better for animals and the environment. But there is no way the policy advocates giving animals similar rights to humans. That will not happen while we continue to routinely use them for food and research.

Good on ya'll ! Animal slaughter=agression and negativity. Good on the protestors for having the guts to protest. Sarah Watson
