Media release: Kiwi troops contribute to terrorism

The NZDF is preparing to send another round of troops off to Afghanistan to contribute to the on-going occupation of the country by US and NATO troops.

"Phil Goff would have us believe that the NZDF is all about peacekeeping and reconstruction in Afghanistan. But six years on, there is no more peace or stability in Afghanistan than there was when the US started bombing the country" said Peace Action member Valerie Morse.

"When you consider that there are more than 20,000 US troops in the country, it is really not surprising that there is continuing conflict. The New Zealand troops are effectively there to support the US-puppet government in Kabul and to prop up numbers."

"The government has done a good propaganda job convincing New Zealanders that NZDF deployments to Afghanistan are necessary and beneficial. If we
look behind the rhetoric, it is easy to see that this is just another battlefield in Bush's imperial war of conquest. Clark and Goff want to be sure to stay on the right side of the US by offering up troops. It is a sick bit of double-speak."

"Goff's revelations of SAS involvement in handing over Afghanis to the US military is evidence of NZ's complicity in the subjugation of the local
population there."

"When will the Labour government realise that supporting US wars of aggression only support terrorism, not stop it? Thousands of Afghani people have been murdered in bombing raids and unprovoked assassinations since 2001. Genuine peace and stability can only be achieved when the
occupation ceases."

Peace Action Wellington is committed to stopping the involvement of New Zealand troops in overseas wars. For more details, check out

Troops leave from Ohakea Air Force Base, near Levin, on Thursday at 9am.

There's that monster again!

THE MONSTER

The MONSTER destroys itself, so why do we fight the MONSTER? Why not just build our own world? Think of cost benefit of our time, money and our investment in building a new world - opposed to trying to stop the MONSTER who is always right. I know! We might save some lives! Nah! The monster said… that those people had to die and they'll have to lock people up if they disagree. So we say… well lock us up then. And they do! Then they go off and continue to do the killing while people are locked up. Because that was the right thing to do - because they were just terrorists and you were just a wild animal that doesn't understand capitalism and the way the system works. I know! We'll stop the war in Iraq? But Afghanistan is okay so well just keep on building democracy over there?

Re: Media release: Kiwi troops contribute to terrorism

This is the best example of how the Labour led government have blood on their hands during this so-called War on Terror. Whilst at the last election Labour made a big deal of how National would have led NZ into Iraq they were doing no better in Afghanistan.

PAW is doing great work on Afghanistan - a forgotten war, for most people.
Just wondering: do you have a position on East Timor?

Re: Re: Media release: Kiwi troops contribute to terrorism

As part of PAW's imminent "NZ Troops Out Now" campaign, Timor Leste will be among the top 3 in terms of focus, alongside Afghanistan and the Solomon Islands.

Sounds great. If you have any promo material I'd love to see it and help spread it around.

there is no watching the above doco and still participating in President Cheneys fraud, I have personally stopped several troops from heading out just by getting them to see this dvd.

Do not let Marvin Bush rewire any of your buildings!

Re: Media release: Kiwi troops contribute to terrorism

Fuck you PAW people are retarded. Thousands of people have been killed since the Soviet invasion in 1979.

"Genuine peace and stability can only be achieved when the occupation ceases."

Is this statement for real? What do you think the Afghans were doing before the 'invasion', rolling around in bucolic paradise tending to their camels? No they were not they were killing each other.
