Ross Meurant, former inspector in charge of the Auckland police criminal intelligence section, criticizes police intelligence gathering and anti-terror legislation

This is from an RNZ interview with Ross Meurant, former Red Squad chief and longstanding right-wing poitician who has spoken out against the way police gather and process intelligence infromation. He goes on to criticize the anti-terror legislation and compares it to a sledge-hammer to crack a walnut.

Couldn't believe my ears. Just goes to show pigeon holes are for pigeons, never underestimate people. Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams have patched it up and Now Ross Meurant is talking sensibly. What's the world coming to?

You might find Ross Meurants new found criticism of Police comes from the fact that he has fallen foul of the law and afaik was arrested not too long ago for impersonating a cop.

Given that he was last in the Police some 20 years ago I hardly think he can be considered an authority or a relevant source on anything.

And check out what he's now up to in Eastern Europe

Meurant - once a filthy 'tory' and a Red Squad organiser.
One statement does not pardon this man's history of brutal attacks upon working people.

Re: Re: Meurant critical of Police

No one is saying hes not a scumbag, he quite obviously is a very nasty little man. but it is interesting that even right wing racist scumbags are sceptical of the recent police operation
