Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
From RadioNZ:
Another three people have been arrested as part of the police investigation into alleged firearms offences in the Bay of Plenty.
Police have confirmed to Radio New Zealand that the three, who were arrested on Tuesday, will be charged with unlawful possession of firearms.
Two men aged 44 and 46 from Maketu are due to appear in the Tauranga District Court. A 24-year-old Ruatoki man will appear in the Whakatane District Court.
In October 2007, 16 people were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of firearms in the Ruatoki, Whakatane and Western Bay of Plenty areas.
Police say the investigation team continues to focus on bringing these matters before the court and there will be no further comment.
Te Kotahi a Tuhoe Trust chairman Tamati Kruger says this feels like further persecution of Tuhoe. But he says he has been assisting the police in order to minimise further upset to the families of those involved.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Three arrests on arms charges linked to the 15th October raids.
All of people in Tuhoe country.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
The meeting has had to be moved because Thistle Hall was vandalised. We'll be meeting at 128 instead. There will be people and notices at Thistle Hall, to let people know of the change of venue

Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
apparantely the police have more warrants so more raids to come
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Are the raids political or firearms related? I don't have a problem with illegal weapons being taken out of circulation. The drawback is the media (both mainstream and alternative) is so bias you really have to be there to actually know what is going on.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
and who are you that we should be so concerned with what you have a problem with.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
"apparantely the police have more warrants so more raids to come"
They will have to arrest all of Tuhoe if they want to win the war against Tuhoe Sovereignty
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
"and who are you that we should be so concerned with what you have a problem with"
I don't have a problem with political activism, illegal weapons I do.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
is this a pro-firearms NRA style site now?
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
"Police spokeswoman Angeline Barlow said the Armed Offenders Squad were not used and roads were not closed during this morning's arrests."
now they come for you in the night and quietly take you away do they
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
"is this a pro-firearms NRA style site now?"
I am anti illegal firearms, how does that make me NRA?
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
No firearms were seized in the raids, they are referring to the same firearms and charges that are laid on the other 16.
See: "Charges alleging possession of firearms except for some lawful, proper and sufficient purpose all relate to Whakatane between October 11 and 14 last year along with several co-accused."

Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
They weren't charged with being in possession of illegal weapons. "possession of firearms except for some lawful, proper and sufficient purpose" is a cop thing, they can charge you with that if it is deemed by them that you are not acting within the guidelines of the arms act, irrespective of if you have an arms licence and legally purchased the gun they are referring to.

Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
What a waste of time and space to believe a terrorist organisation could beat the governments obligation to the treaty.
Article 1 British governance [sovereignty].
Article 2 "All the people of New Zealand."
Article 3 PROTECTION and assurance of SAME treatment as the British, confirming Article 1.
As few would agree with the above we have the trouble we are now in. I'll leave you to squable. Who would care, the treaty's there!
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
"Who would care, the treaty's there!"
Maybe the 20,000+ that went to war against the Crown after the signing of the treaty. You see all the land wars happened after the signing of the treaty....not before.

Ah the old english version of the treaty, 99% signed by the crown agents. Whereas the Maori version has both crown and Maori signatures and goes like this:
Article 1 British governance.
Article 2 Maori Sovereignty, Crown right to buy land
Article 3 PROTECTION and assurance of SAME treatment as the British subjects
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
If Tuhoe want illegal firearms they deserve to get hit by the police i hope they do time.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Time to start, investigating and criminally charging some of these so call good Cops that are commiting crimes too,who try to blanket themselves under the letter of the law and the Police Force. How many cops out there are actually not drug users and taking advantage of the resourses to commit crime and criminal activities. Don't worry we have a non corupt Police Force in NZ. My lilie white ass are they straight and law abiding.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
"If Tuhoe want illegal firearms they deserve to get hit by the police i hope they do time."
Who exactly is being charged with illegal weapons?
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Noone is

Fuck up idiot
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Am I the only one to see this, maybe not, but it occurred to me that the arrest of one individual in Ruatoki the other day went without incident. This because the police rang tuhoe elders who contacted the person in question to hand themselves in. Now, isnt it tru that there was only one person also arrested in Ruatoki last year during the raids? Isnt it a true statement that they sent in 300 armed arseholes to secure and detain Ruatoki members? Isnt it then tru to say that this has proven to be totally over the fucking top considering how the police conducted themselves the other day! I am fucking ropeable about this!!!
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Whoever is claiming Maori sovereignty, please quote from te Tiriti text. Te Tiriti is our only treaty and Govt have tried and failed to prove their English treaty is genuine. See www.treatyofwaitangi.net.nz
Article 2nd, quote, "tangata katoa o Nu Tirani"
To those who cannot read Maori, quote, "all the people of New Zealand"
Anyone who wants to argue 'sovereignty' is part of Article 2, convince the web site above. This is a public web site in which the governments best have tried and failed. Should you succeed, you will be an all time hero. No joke. Good luck.

Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Here is the wording:
And my translation:
Article Two:
The Queen of England agrees to the current establishment of the chiefs, the subtribes, to everyone in New Zealand their complete sovereignty over their lands, villages and all their treasures. However also request the Confederation of Chiefs and all the Chiefs will sell land to the Queen at a price agreed to by the person owning it and by the person buying it exclusively appointed by the Queen as her purchase agent.
So you see where it says, 'However also', that is tagging a restriction onto the previous charge. Like, whereas yes you do have complete sovereignty over your lands and what not, but we agree here today that you will only sell your land to us the Crown, and not to those other currently pakeha ripping you off. So, if what you are saying is correct, then Pakeha who had land at that time, none of which was by official deed, would not be able to sell their land to anyone else but the Crown, in fact, all Pakeha owned land today would then fall under the restrictions of Maori land, and you would not be able to sell it or own it as freehold title.
The Treaty was signed between the Crown and Maori, not between Pakeha and Maori. Thats where your interpretation goes wrong. The treaty was designed to give the appearance that it was guaranteeing the rights that Maori already had into a written format of a treaty.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Re. starting, "Here is the wording."
You obviously can't read Maori and you have used Sir Hugh Kawheru's [spelling] treaty translation, the first version in which the word "treasures" appeared.
Should read Gvnr. Hobson's one and only "Official final English draft," you will find "taonga" was translated from the word "property." All other back translations contain the word "property," which is correct.
You are wasting your time on me, I'm a small fry nobody. Please, I encourage you to convince www.treatyofwaitangi.net.nz No joke, if you can better the findings of this web site you will be a national hero. Government have thrown everything at it they can find and many that they can't. All have failed. It has been proven there is only one treaty, Maori version, and that the "Principles of the Treaty" being based on a false treaty have no historical base.

Re: Sup Julz, what evidence is there to support that claim? (Apart from the headlines in a weeks time)
I don't think Julz has any evdidence at all to support that...perhaps discussions made by others would be her claim for that...? Which ain't hard evidence at all! But yeah Julz please do enlighten us with your claims that the police have more warrants for more arrests? I don't think they could be that stupid to have another repeat of October 15th 2007....????
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
"You obviously can't read Maori"
E pokokohua! Ka taea e au te korero te reo o oku nei tipuna!
"and you have used Sir Hugh Kawheru's [spelling] treaty translation, the first version in which the word "treasures" appeared."
You obviously havent read Kawharu's translation or else you would see its not the same.
"You are wasting your time on me, I'm a small fry nobody. Please.......on a false treaty have no historical base."
I don't give a fuck which version anyone thinks is the legitimate one, the only one that matters to me is the one my tipuna signed. That is the legitimate one, and that is the one they have not honoured, neither then, nor now, nor ever. Just admit that your translation is intentionally wrong, and the basis of everything you have said so far is a fabricated lie.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
Thomas Young who supposedly translated the Treaty in 1869 although noted as a registered translator, was actually an agent of the crown, worked for the Native Land Court which was instrumental in removing 66 million acres of Maori land from Maori, much of which was later deemed as illegal sales.
It was important for Young to select the world property rather than any of the other 17 interpretations of the word, including its most common use of the day which is the same common useage of today, that of a treasure.
To use Youngs interpretation of the Maori version of the treaty is about as worthless as using the English version of the treaty, for its not the English interpretation that is of most importants but rather how the Maori that signed the treaty in those days understood the meanings of those words.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
My tipuna didn't sign for Taranaki. End of story.
Re: More Raids - Meeting 7pm Wellington Tonight
There is no need to speculate on which back translation is correct, all one needs do is refer to the real thing, Governor Hobson's official final English draft. As Henry Willams and his son, Edward, translated te Tiriti from this, both documents are identicle. A special meeting was held in which all other drafts, including the draft Govt's Official English treaty was copied from, were condemed.
Maori's knew what they signed alright. They chose the British as they were kindest to them and begged them to take over sovereignty so the British could stop the Maori Musket Wars [in which Maoris were slaughtering each other by the tens of thousands]. It was understood British could not do this without sovereignty.
