To mark the 25th anniversary of both the Wellington Tamil Society and the 1983 anti-Tamil race riots in Sri Lanka, the Wellington Tamil Society is hosting a workshop to raise the question: is there a role for the international community in giving the peace process in Sri Lanka a helping hand?

To mark the 25th anniversary of both the Wellington Tamil Society and the 1983 anti-Tamil race riots in Sri Lanka, the Wellington Tamil Society is hosting a workshop to raise the question: is there a role for the international community in giving the peace process in Sri Lanka a helping hand?

Guest speakers for the workshop include:
• Mano Ganesan human rights activist, member of the Sri Lankan parliament, runner up to the United States State Department’s 2007 ‘Defenders of Freedom’ award
• Marian Hobbs Wellington Central MP and former Assoc. Minister of Foreign Affairs
• Rae Julian former Executive Director of the Council for International Development,
• Dr Pauline Horill formerly of Médecins Sans Frontières as field medical practitioner, emergency coordinator (including Sri Lanka) and programmes manager

Following each speaker there will be a short group discussion where any of the participants
of the workshop can offer their views.
