The Scariest Critical Mass Yet!
Auckland's Halloween Critical Mass ride was a sight to behold. Around 50 cyclists, most sporting terrifyingly scary costumes took to the streets to scare some cars, then retired to the park to drink Chai and Murder Cookies.
I was blown away by the standard and number of costumes at the Auckland Critical Mass on Halloween last Friday. I had pre-ride concerns that perhaps cyclists in Auckland would be too cool to dress up and that I might be one of a few ostracised weirdo's in costume. However, some people put enormous effort into their costumes and the ride was an incredible spectacle to behold.
There were around 50 of us, a number that keeps slowly increasing each month as daylight hours extend and the chance of rain continues to decrease.
As has become expected and much looked forward to, the Sustainability Network from Auckland University provided Chai tea in Albert Park after the ride. They usually bring amazing muffins, but this time made special 'murder cookies' in the shapes of ghosts, dinosaurs and killer rabbits. These post-mass treats have been a great addition to the Critical Mass rides and give everyone a reason to stay and hang out, making friends and building community. Much credit is due to the Sustainability Network, the fastest growing club on campus, soon to take over the world!

By the way, just because it isn't Halloween next month doesn't mean we can't dress up again. See you there!

Re: The Scariest Critical Mass Yet!
What happened in Christchurch? I heard there were some arrests but haven't seen any details posted up.
Re: The Scariest Critical Mass Yet!
2 arrests and much harrasment in Otautahi I heard. The arrest were for very minor things designed to stop the ride and in my opinion punish the ones who got off earier that week from a previous citical mass.
Would be good to get a report from someone who was there and some of the pics put up as well please.
