Some photos from the demonstration today in Wellington. Several hundred people took part. After meeting outside the Minstry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, we marched to the monument to former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. There various people spoke, symbolic "blood" was splattered on the monument and an Israeli flag was burned.

Some photos from today...

Looked like a great turnout.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Chur Mean As Aoteroa

Palestinian Rights are Indigenous Rights
Stop Colonisation NOW !!!!!!!!!

"Depending on the circumstances, the Anti-Indigenous Movement led by the government of the United States deploys lethal force, as well as malicious harassment and psychological warfare against tribal peoples. F-16s used by the Israeli Air Force against Palestinians, M-16s used by the Colombian Army against Caucans, and Apache helicopters used by the Indonesian military against West Papuans, are all gifts from the United States Congress for the purpose of suppressing indigenous peoples.

As the acknowledged head of the group of four voting against the 2007 UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the United States also has the wherewithal to ensure that campaigns for indigenous freedom are met with both overt and covert opposition. The three declared US partners in opposing indigenous liberation Canada, Australia, and New Zealand may at present limit themselves to police harassment and judicial corruption in forcefully subverting international laws protecting indigenous peoples, but their militaries and intelligence agencies are nonetheless actively engaged in undermining indigenous sovereignty.

Under the rubric of the Global War on Terror, many governments around the world threaten, assault and murder indigenous leaders. As resource wars intensify between the First and the Fourth World, indigenous peoples unity and visibility becomes an essential survival strategy; strategically countering the propaganda of the Anti-Indigenous Movement remains a key element of that cohesion."

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

anti-Anti-war demo photo

anti-Anti-war placards did state the obvious...
There was a small group of VERY well behaved people who tried to express the viewpoint of Israel, too.

There isn't ANYTHING positive to say about the murderous attacks by Israel, therefore the placards did state the obvious.. stopping the Quassam missiles is mandatory, too.

The bottom line is article 13 of the UN declaration of human rights which state that everybody has the right to RETURN TO HIS COUNTRY. There are 3 million Palestinians who cannot. New Zealand has signed and ratified the UN declaration. It is therefore binding law here. Our government is violating that law by supporting israel's policy of preventing the return and keeping refugee camps in place.

This fact must be tested in court, I feel.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Cool turnout. Hey out of interest, where is the Rabin monument?

Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Opposite Wellington Central Police Station, in Harris St, in the small 'garden' adjacent to the entry to the WCC Central Library underground carpark.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

These people do realize that.. Palestine decided to not renew its cease-fire, and has been constantly attacking Isreal for years.. Right?

Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Anonymous: You do realise that ceasefire agreement was never followed by Israel in the first place, right? The terms included an end to the seige, yet Israel continued on with it. Also, you do realise that Israel occupies Palestinian land, right? That includes Gaza! A civil disengagemnt (removing 1500 Israeli settlers) does not mean a military one. The borders, water and airspace is still under Israeli control and effectively has Gaza under occupation.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

You might want to do some research on Yitzhak Rabin.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

i feel that burning the israeli flag is not symbolic of peace, the israeli people are prob in need of just as much compassion, they seem to have a lot more potential for war and killing, which maybe indicates a lot more hate and anger.

i met some israeli people 2 weeks ago b4 the latest mainstream media reported flare up of violence, i was reminded of how ingrained the militarian mentality is, its compulsory for every israeli citizen to do 2 years in the army.

to bomb a nation is an abomination anywhere anytime -
but as kiwis, in a peaceful nation surely we can rise above the vengeful archtype - burning flags is not an action of peace.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

The Jewish people were 6 million down as of 1945 and have been trying to catch up ever since.
Not a good look for human nature.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

There are no "Palestinians" and there is no "Palestine." The vast majority of the Arabs who currently reside in the State of Israel immigrated to the land from Egypt in the first half of this century in order to obtain employment and other economic opportunities from the growing Jewish community
. "There is no Palestine in history, absolutely not," said Dr. Hitti, the official spokesman for all of the Arab nations and for the Arabs living in Israel, while testifying before the Anglo-American Commission in 1946. In 1948, the Arab League, representing the entire Arab world, declared before the United Nations that there was no "Palestine" and that all of Israel was "part of southern Syria."
All of a sudden, in the 1960s, Yesser Arafat and other Islamist extremists decided to invent the myth that a separate Arab nation called "Palestine" once existed.

From 1517-1917 Turkey's Ottoman Empire controlled a vast Arab empire, a portion of which is today Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine During World War I (1914-1918), Turkey supported Germany. When Germany was defeated, so were the Turks. In 1916 control of the southern portion of their Ottoman Empire was "mandated" to France and Britain under the Sykes-Picot Agreement, which divided the Arab region into zones of influence. Lebanon and Syria were assigned (mandated) to France... and "Palestine" (today's Jordan, Israel and "West Bank") was mandated to Great Britain.
Because no other peoples had ever established a national homeland in "Palestine" since the Jews had done it 2,000 years before, the British "looked favorably" upon the creation of a Jewish National Homeland throughout ALL of Palestine. The Jews had already begun mass immigration into Palestine in the 1880's in an effort to rid the land of swamps and malaria and prepare for the rebirth of Israel. This Jewish effort to revitalize the land attracted an equally large immigration of Arabs from neighboring areas who were drawn by employment opportunities and healthier living conditions. There was never any attempt to "rid" the area of what few Arabs there or those Arab masses that immigrated into this area along with the Jews!
In 1923, the British divided the "Palestine" portion of the Ottoman Empire into two administrative districts. Jews would be permitted only west of the Jordan river. In effect, the British had "chopped off" 75% of the originally proposed Jewish Palestinian homeland to form an Arab Palestinian nation called Trans-Jordan (meaning "across the Jordan River"). This territory east of the Jordan River was given to Emir Abdullah (from Hejaz, now Saudi Arabia) who was not even an Arab-"Palestinian!" This portion of Palestine was renamed Trans-Jordan. Trans-Jordan and would again be renamed "Jordan" in 1946. In other words, the eastern 3/4 of Palestine would be renamed TWICE, in effect, erasing all connection to the name "Palestine!" However, the bottom line is that the Palestinian Arabs had THEIR "Arab Palestinian" homeland. The remaining 25% of Palestine (now WEST of the Jordan River) was to be the Jewish Palestinian homeland. However, sharing was not part of the Arab psychological makeup then nor now.
Encouraged and incited by growing Arab nationalism throughout the Middle East, the Arabs of that small remaining Palestinian territory west of the Jordan River launched never-ending murderous attacks upon the Jewish Palestinians in an effort to drive them out. Most terrifying were the Hebron massacres of 1929 and later during the 1936-39 "Arab Revolt." The British at first tried to maintain order but soon (due to the large oil deposits being discovered throughout the Arab Middle East) turned a blind eye. It became painfully clear to the Palestinian Jews that they must fight the Arabs AND drive out the British.
The Palestinian Jews were forced to form an organized defense against the Arabs Palestinians.... thus was formed the Hagana, the beginnings of the Israeli Defense Forces [IDF]. There was also a Jewish underground called the Irgun led by Menachem Begin (who later became Prime Minister of Israel). Besides fighting the Arabs, the Irgun was instrumental in driving out the pro-Arab British. Finally in 1947 the British had enough and turned the Palestine matter over to the United Nations.
The 1947 U.N. Resolution 181 partition plan was to divide the remaining 25% of Palestine into a Jewish Palestinian State and a SECOND Arab Palestinian State (Trans-Jordan being the first) based upon population concentrations. The Jewish Palestinians accepted... the Arab Palestinians rejected. The Arabs still wanted ALL of Palestine... both east AND west of the Jordan River.

On May 14, 1948 the "Palestinian" Jews finally declared their own State of Israel and became "Israelis." On the next day, seven neighboring Arab armies... Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen... invaded Israel. Most of the Arabs living within the boundaries of the newly declared "ISRAEL" were encouraged to leave by the invading Arab armies to facilitate the slaughter of the Jews and were promised to be given all Jewish property after the victorious Arab armies won the war. The truth is that 70% of the Arab Palestinians who left in 1948 – perhaps 300,000 to 400,000 of them – never saw an Israeli soldier! They did not flee because they feared Jewish thugs, but because of a rational and reasonable calculus: the Jews will be exterminated; we will get out of the way while that messy and dangerous business goes forward, and we will return afterwards to reclaim our homes, and to inherit those nice Jewish properties as well. They guessed wrong; and the Arab Palestinians are still tortured by the residual shame of their flight. Their shame is so great because in their eyes running from Jews was like running from women. So much for the blatant lie about Jews throwing out all the [Palestinian] Arabs!
The remaining 30% either (1) saw for themselves that these Jews would fight and die for their new nation and decided to pack up and leave or (2) were driven off the land as a normal consequence of war.

When the 19 month war ended, Israel survived despite a 1% loss of its entire population! Those Arabs who did not flee became today's Israeli-Arab citizens. Those who fled became the seeds of the first wave of "Palestinian Arab refugees."
The Arab propagandists and apologists almost never mentioned that in 1948, Arab armies launched a war against a one-day-old Israel. Instead he focused on the main consequence of that war: the creation of Arab refugees, stating that Israel "short of genocide" expelled 800,000 of them. This not only disagrees with UN estimates of a bit over 400,000 refugees but also ignores the fact that most of the Arabs/Palestinians were encouraged to leave by the Arab World itself!

The end result of the 1948-49 Israeli War of Independence was the creation of a Jewish state slightly larger than that which was proposed by the 1947 United Nations Resolution 181. What remained of that almost-created second Arab Palestinian State was gobbled up by (1) Egypt (occupying the Gaza Strip) and by (2) Trans-Jordan (occupying Judea-Samaria (a.k.a. the "West Bank" of the Jordan River) and Jerusalem. In the next year (1950) Trans-Jordan formally merged this West Bank territory into itself and granted all those "Palestinian" Arabs living there Jordanian citizenship. Since Trans-Jordan was then no longer confined to one side of the Jordan River, it renamed itself simply "Jordan." In the final analysis, the Arabs of Palestine ended up with nearly 85% of the original territory of Palestine... called Jordan but in reality their ARAB "Palestinian state! But that was still not 100% and thus the conflict between Arab and Jew for "Palestine" would continue through four more wars and continuous Arab terrorist attacks upon the Israeli citizenry. It continues to this very day.
From 1949-67 when all of Judea-Samaria [West Bank & Jerusalem] and Gaza ... were 100% under Arab [Jordanian & Egyptian] control, no effort was EVER made to create a second Palestinian State for the Arabs living there. Surely you do not expect Israel to now provide these same Arabs with their own country when their fellow Arabs failed to do so! And isn't it curious how Arafat and his PLO (formed in 1964) discovered their "ancient" identity and a need for "self-determination" and "human dignity" on this very same West Bank ONLY AFTER Israel regained this territory (three years later in 1967) following Jordan's attempt attempt to destroy Israel! Why was no request ever made upon King Hussein of Jordan by the Arabs living on the West Bank when he occupied it? Is it logical that the PLO was formed in 1964 to regain the lands they would lose three years later in 1967? This sort of logic makes sense only to those who who have not learned that the PLO was formed to DESTROY Israel. And that is STILL their goal! A cosmetic name change from PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) to PA (Palestinian Authority) does not change the stripes on THIS tiger!

Throughout much of May 1967, the Egyptian, Jordanian and Syrian armies mobilized along Israel's narrow and seemingly indefensible borders in preparation for a massive invasion to eliminate the State of Israel. The battle cry heard throughout the Arab world was then, as it continues to be... "Slaughter the Jews" and "Throw the Jews into the Sea!" But the Jews of Israel, remembering 2,000 years of being butchered, gassed, burned and skinned (eg. The Crusades, The Spanish Inquisition, the Arab rampages of early Palestine and particularly the Holocaust), planned and executed a perfect pre-emptive strike against Egypt. Within two hours the Egyptian Air Force did not exist... most of its planes destroyed while still on the runways! Unaware that the Egyptians had no more air force, King Hussein of Jordan, launched his attack from the his West Bank into Israel's belly while Syrian troops prepared to descend down the Golan Heights high ground into northern Israel.
Now for some facts about "occupation." Firstly, the Egyptians, Jordanians and Syrians lost Gaza, the West Bank and Golan Heights (respectively) by participating in a failed attempt at genocide against the Children of Israel. Had Israel lost this 1967 defensive war, the Arab-Palestinians and their Arab allies would have raped, butchered or driven out every Israeli they could get their hands on and gobbled up all of Israel. Now, 35+ years later and despite the fact that Israel won a war BROUGHT UPON THEM, the Israelis are still willing to allow the Arab-Palestinians to have a state on much of the West Bank and Gaza if only they will stop sending their suicide/homicide bombers into the heart of Israel! (Talk about misplaced compassion!)
From 1948 to 1967, Egypt ruled Gaza, Syria ruled the Golan Heights, while Jordan ruled the West Bank. They could have set up independent Arab-Palestinian states in any or all of those territories, but they didn't even consider it. Instead, in 1967 they used the Golan Heights, Gaza and the West bank to launch a war that was unambiguously aimed at destroying Israel, which is how Israel came into possession of those territories in the first place.
After ONLY six days of air, sea and hand-to-hand ground warfare, Israel defeated all three Arab armies along three separate fronts, taking control of the entire Sinai Desert from Egypt, the 37mile x 12mile Golan Heights from Syria and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem and its Old City) from Jordan. The God of Israel was surely watching over His children! Most importantly was the return to Israel of its holy 3,000 year old capital city of Jerusalem along the western edge of the West Bank... the same Jerusalem from which all Jews had been denied access for the 19 years (1948-1967) following Jordan's seizure and control over it following the first Arab-Israeli War of 1948-9.
Unfortunately, the world saw things differently and considered Israel an "occupier" of this disputed "West Bank" and the Gaza Strip along with the 850,000 Palestinian Arabs living there. These Arabs would refer to themselves as "refugees" and joined the masses of refugees from the first Arab-Israeli war of 1948-9. Once again Israel was forced to fight a battle for survival and, sadly, once again Palestinian [in reality, Jordanian and Egyptian] Arabs becoming refugees by their own actions, the actions of their leaders and from the actions of fellow Arabs from neighboring states!
ISRAEL SCREWS UP TOO!
Israel was responsible for bringing about some of its own problems. The Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza Strip were packed and ready to leave following their 1967 defeat. Suddenly the victorious one-eyed IDF General Moshe Dayan persuaded them to stay. This singular act stunned no one more than the Arab enemy himself who could not believe such an incredible manifestation of Jewish madness! After all, the Arabs knew what THEY would have done to the Jews if they had won! Dayan's plan was to educate them, offer them modern medical treatment, provide them with employment both in the West Bank, Gaza AND inside Israel Proper itself ... living amongst each other in hopes of building bridges to the Arab world. Israel is now paying dearly for this typically naive "Leftist" gesture. That "bridge" led to two Intifadas and world-wide Arab-Palestinian terrorism. From a frightened and defeated enemy, these "Palestinian" Arabs under Israel's jurisdiction turned into a confident, hateful and dangerous enemy now on their way toward forming a terrorist state determined to destroy Israel!
Note: When people say Jordan (first called Trans-Jordan) is an Arab-"Palestinian" State, they are correct! Jordan accounts for 3/4 of Palestine's original land mass. Though they may call themselves "Jordanians," they are culturally, ethnically, historically and religiously no different than the Arab-"Palestinians" on the "West Bank." Even the flag of Jordan and the flag of the proposed 2nd Arab-Palestinian state on the West Bank / Gaza look almost identical. So, if the Arab-Palestinians and Jordanians think of themselves as one and the same, why should WE fall for the lie that the Arab Palestinians west of the Jordan River are any different from the Jordanian Arabs on its eastern shore?
Usually when one side starts a war and loses both the war AND some territory, no one on the planet would expect the winner to give back anything! This not only sounds preposterous, it IS preposterous! But the Jews (I hate to admit) had such an insane obsession of wanting the world to love them that they were willing to give back the entire Sinai Desert (oil fields, air bases and endless miles of security buffer) to Egypt for a piece of paper. Thus, in 1982 Egypt regained their Sinai and Israel lost a massive buffer against any future Egyptian aggression! Thus far, Egypt has not aggressed against Israel militarily; however, the basest, anti-Semitic vile to come out of Egypt is not unlike the worse of Nazi anti-Jewish propaganda! This 1982 Camp David Peace Accord has to be the coldest peace deal in history!
Israel still occupies Syria's Golan Heights which, prior to the 1967 war, had been by Syria used solely for terrorist incursions into and artillery bombardment upon Israel's northeastern settlements. The Golan should never be given back to Israel's most vicious enemy! And of course, Israel still "occupies" the West Bank with its ONE MILLION TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND and Gaza with its EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND "Palestinian" Arabs. Had Israel done to these Arabs what the Arabs would have done to the Jews had THEY won, she would have expelled these hostile Arabs and made it officially part of a Greater Israel! But by remaining an "occupier," Israel set herself up for a campaign of vicious propaganda, the scope and intensity of which the world has never before seen!

The Middle East war is not now and never was a conflict between Israelis/Jews on the one hand and Palestinians on the other. In fact, the Arab-"Palestinians", while currently the perpetrators of most of the anti-Jewish atrocities, were never a very important part of the conflict. In fact, before about 1970, virtually no one in the world considered the Middle East conflict to be one between Israelis and Palestinians.
The term "Palestinian" itself had referred to Israeli Jews back in the 1940s, and had been slowly deconstructed and redefined to refer to the Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza. The Middle East Conflict was always a war by Arabs against Jews, not a conflict between Israelis and "Palestinians." The war was repackaged as a conflict between Jews and Palestinians as a public relations gimmick by the Arab fascist regimes. These regimes had never had any interest in "Palestinians," in creating a "Palestinian" state, or in "Palestinian nationalism" before 1967. That is because Palestinian nationalism did not and DOES NOT exist. The Palestinians were a regional group of Arabs having virtually no cultural nor national distinctive traits separating them from Syrians, Lebanese, and Jordanians. They are all basically Arabs!.
The bulk of what are called "Palestinian Arabs" are members of families who migrated into the Land of Israel beginning in the late 19th century. Palestinian nationalism is a mislabeling of Arab nationalism. Arab nationalism exists, although it is closely bound up with Islamic nationalism and even Islamism. Palestinian nationalism, however, is a phantom. It is nothing more than genocidal hatred of Jews!
The Arab assaults and aggressions against Israel in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1968, and 1973 had nothing to do with Palestinians. The Palestinian terror campaign would itself be easy to suppress today and eradicate if the Middle East conflict were really a Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Israel would simply obliterate the terrorists and expel their supporters to Syria and Lebanon. The Middle East war continues because it is really an Arab-Israeli war, not an Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is also in large part a war between barbarism and civilization. In many ways an Islamic religious jihad against the Jews.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

You don't have to be a news junkie to be struck by the overwhelming media images from southern Israel and Gaza chronicling the battled region, the lives lost and the deteriorating human conditions. It is difficult not to confront these horrific scenes with pure emotional paralysis. Innocent lives have been lost in both Israel and Gaza. But the loss of lives on each side does not mean that each side is equally to blame.

Israel is acting in defense, reacting to a situation forced upon her. Since the Israeli government completed the withdrawal of its troops and citizens from the Gaza strip in August of 2005, over 6,300 rockets were fired from Gaza at the homes, schools, and synagogues of Israel’s southern communities. These rockets were not fired at army bases. They were not fired at airstrips. They were not fired at industrial targets. They were indiscriminately launched at population centers with the sole goal of killing as many innocent Israeli civilians as possible. Israel has a moral right and responsibility to defend its citizens.

Israel is reacting just like any other nation under constant attack. If Detroit was hit by Canada or San Antonio were hit by Mexico with 50 rockets in 50 hours, it would act decisively to end the threat. We should not apply a double standard to Israel.

The reality of the conflict is that Israel takes every possible measure to protect innocent lives, often putting its soldiers at additional risk in the process. Hamas attacks indiscriminately, seeking to maximize the number of civilian casualties on the Israeli side, and intentionally operates in Palestinian population centers, thus using non-combatant men, women and children as human shields in clear violation of legal and moral norms.

Some accuse Israel of targeting civilians or being indifferent to their safety. The truth is that Israel is a robust democracy, which places the highest value on the sanctity of all human life. Israeli military actions target the Hamas infrastructure, not the innocent Palestinian civilians living in Gaza. Given Hamas' practice of operating inside civilian areas, innocents have become victims as well. The death of non-combatants in wartime is always tragic. In fact, Hamas itself has acknowledged that almost all of the casualties have been from among those engaged in attacks against Israel or individuals located near the organization’s bases of operation.

Israel continues to work diligently with members of the international community to alleviate the human suffering in Gaza. To urgently address these humanitarian considerations, Israel has continued to supply fuel, food, medical supplies, and other humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, despite Hamas attacks on Israeli civilians. During the past six months, Israel has facilitated more than 14,624 truckloads of humanitarian assistance including more than 185,000 tons of supplies and 39 million liters of fuel. There have been more than 4,130 medical evacuations.

While Israel makes every effort to avert a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, the world must not lose sight of the horrific conditions in southern Israel. This region has experienced non-stop terrorism since Israel withdrew its forces from Gaza in August 2005. The towns of Sderot and Ashkelon in particular have been pounded by a barrage of Qassam rockets aimed at civilians. Pre-schools, homes, and bus stops have been consistently targeted. When the alarm goes off, civilians have no more than 15 seconds to reach shelter. Imagine being in the shower when the alarm sounds? Or what do you do if your children are on the bus heading for school when it happens? This is not a rare occurrence. It has taken place almost daily in the areas near Gaza for the last three years, which explains why Israel has been compelled to act.

Since Israel declared independence in 1948, it has never known a day of peace. Israel longs for normal relations with all of its neighbors and has proven that it is willing to make painful sacrifices to achieve peace. Meanwhile, Israel has the right, indeed the obligation, to defend itself. In fact, defeat of Hamas in Gaza could reinforce the leadership of Abu Mazen and Sallam Fayad, Palestinian officials in control of the West Bank who reject terrorism. The situation in Gaza contrasts sharply with that in the West Bank where real progress is being made both in terms of security and economic development for the Palestinians because of this bold leadership, the kind that might be capable of engaging in credible negotiations toward peace.

We are dedicated to the goal of reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians, based on two states living side-by-side in peace and security. We pray and tirelessly strive for a day when suffering will be known no more by the peoples of this troubled region. This is an extraordinarily painful period to be sure, but if Israel's "Operation Cast Lead" succeeds and Hamas is neutralized, the current crisis actually may create the conditions in which peace might finally prevail.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

I think that the paint and flag discgacing Yitzhak Rabin's memorial are so symbolic of the situation;

Here is a men who dedicated his life to bringing upon peace and a free country for the poor Palestinian people. He dared talk to Yassair Arafat and sign the Oslo Accords and fought for Palestinian rights at a time when it wasn't popular in Israel. He paid for this with his life.

And that thank you from the Palestinian people? "Let's mess up his memorial" - why?

For the same reason they received Gaza and messed it up, and messed up every property, freedom and opportunity they ever received by people who cared for them for the purpose of peace. When will the world learn that they are simply not interested in peace?

As Golda Meir once said: "There will be peace when they love their children more than they hate the Jews"

Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

And you would know? You a disgusting racist sir.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

The Palestinians are so badly served by their leaders it's not rue. After Israel quits Gaza how do we help the Palestinians get rid of Hamas?

Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

The Hamas government was democratically elected by Palestinian voters. Are you so against democracy Mike?

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

The sad thing is that nothing will change until Israel's friend, the USA, allows change to happen.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

"One Blood, One People" ?

Fuck that blood and soil nationalist bullshit.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

USA & Israel, who is the master and who is the puppet?

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

It's sad that these pro-terror extremist bigots are located in New Zealand. You expect to see them in Eurabia, but here in New Zealand not really.

The good thing is that they are a very tiny minority of racists and pro-hamas warmongers and DO NOT in any way represent the views and attitudes of most New Zealanders.

Trust me, this protest against this innocent young girl tennis player just due to her nationality and race was an embarressment for the protesters, if only they would be intelligent enough to even realize it.

We saw their faces on TV and now everyone knows what bigots they are.

They should hang their heads in shame, but I know the evil and pure hatred in their hearts will keep them from feeling any shame.

Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

"It's sad that these pro-terror extremist bigots are located in New Zealand."

It's sad to see that YOU are one of them Achmed.

"Trust me, this protest against this innocent young girl tennis player just due to her nationality and race was an embarressment for the protesters, if only they would be intelligent enough to even realize it."

This so-called 'innocent young girl tennis player' Shahar Peer, is a proud supporter of a racist country founded on the theft of Palestinian land and the terrorism of Palestinian people.

"We saw their faces on TV and now everyone knows what bigots they are."

I cannot see your face Achmed, but I can tell what a hypocrite you are.

"I know the evil and pure hatred in their hearts"

I know the compassion in the hearts of the protestors, who made a stand against an apartheid state, similar to that made during the 1981 Springbok Tour. Bombing hundreds of school children is evil, protesting against that is not.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

great ok we have people who can recite the history of the middle east, awesome in itself although i've seen this type of debate go down and it ends up with disagreement or the conclusion that peace is needed.

the only way is for UNCONDITIONAL FORGIVENESS amidst an energy that may still seek to murder and oppress. all we can do is embody that energy wherever we are, yep its idealistic but it is the only way.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

In Israel you find Hebrew artefacts in the ground, not some mythical "palestinian" nonsense.

You ever wondered why that is, or do you just not care?

Is killing all the Jews in Israel really your ONLY wish or is the truth at all important?

Isn't it odd that wherever Muslims are in greater number than circa 10 percent you have them claiming that THEY are the indiginous people and every non-Muslim must convert, leave or die? Or become a Dhimmi/slave.
The yellow star Jews had to wear in Nazi Germany was actually an Islamic invention from hundreds of years before.

What is "palestine"? It's not a country.

Never was. If it was, you go ahead and tell me it's detailed history.

Go right ahead. Leaders, before Arafat, money, economy, anything. Come on. This is the country the eevill Joos supposedly stole from peaceful innocent "palestinians", without ever going into detail about what exatly a palestinian is.

Palestine is not a country, it is an ideology, an ideology of hatred, Islamic and arab supremacy and bigotry.

Israel isn't the only country in the world Muslims are fighting to liberate from the evil infidels.

The whole world is palestine.

In their religion more specifically it's called Dar al Harb, House of War. It's every part of the world that is not yet Islamic, and thus exists a state of perpetual war until it falls under Islam.

That is palestine. It's a bigotted extremist ideology.

These protesters support this bigotted death cult ideology under the guise of peace and human rights eventhough there is nothing peaceful or humane about the palestine/dar al harb ideology.

People of the religion of peace and blood celebrate Ashura.

BTW, this is PERFECTLY normal and there is no reason to think their kids will suffer any lasting negative effects from this.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

International Committee of the Red Cross says Israel guilty of war crime:

The ICRC accused Israel of violating the rules of war by delaying ambulance access to the house where its team found children huddled beside corpses, not far from the Israeli army.

The Red Cross said the army must have known of the situation but did not help the wounded, in violation of international law.

An ICRC spokesperson said the obstruction of an ambulance to help the wounded amounted to a war crime and an ICRC investigation into the incident has begun.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

[B]The reason that ambulances have been held and searched at checkpoints is due to the very real threat that they pose to Israel and its citizens. Ambulances have frequently been used as a means to transport terrorist bombs, and many of the militants who have triggered suicide bombings in Israel gained access by driving or riding in Red Crescent ambulances. For example: • In October 2001, Nidal Nazal, a Hamas operative in Kalkilya, was arrested by the IDF. He was an ambulance driver for the Palestinian Red Crescent, and information indicates that he exploited the unrestricted travel to serve as a messenger between the Hamas headquarters in several West Bank towns (Israeli Foreign Ministry). • In January 2002, Wafa Idris blew herself up on the crowded Jaffa Street in Jerusalem, becoming one of the first female suicide bombers. She was an ambulance driver for the Palestinian Red Crescent, as was Mohammed Hababa, the Tanzim operative who sent her on her mission. She left the West Bank by way of an ambulance (Washington Post, January 31, 2002). • On March 27, 2002, a Tanzim member who worked as a Red Crescent ambulance driver was captured with explosives in his ambulance. A child disguised as a patient was riding in the ambulance along with the child's family. The explosives were found under the stretcher the "sick" child was laying on (Israeli Foreign Ministry). • On May 17, 2002, an explosive belt was found in a Red Crescent ambulance at a checkpoint near Ramallah. The bomb, the same type generally used in suicide bombings, was hidden under a gurney on which a sick child was lying. The driver, Islam Jibril, was already wanted by the IDF, and admitted that this was not the first time that an ambulance had been used to transport explosives or terrorists. • The bomb was removed from the ambulance and detonated in the presence of a representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross. In a statement issued the same day, the ICRC said that it "understands the security concerns of the Israeli authorities, and has always acknowledged their right to check ambulances, provided it does not unduly delay medical evacuations." The sick passengers in the ambulance were escorted by soldiers to a nearby hospital ("Bomb found in Red Crescent Ambulance," Ha'aretz, June 12, 2002). • On June 30, 2002, Israeli troops found 10 suspected Palestinian terrorists hiding in two ambulances in Ramallah. They were caught when soldiers stopped the vehicles for routine checks (Jewish Telegraphic Agency, June 30, 2002). • In December 2003, Rashed Tarek al-Nimr, who worked as a chemist in hospitals in Nablus and Bethlehem, supplied chemicals from the hospitals to Hamas for use in making bombs and admitted he used ambulances to transport the chemicals. He also said the Hamas commanders would hide in hospitals to avoid arrest (Margot Dudkevitch, "Palestinian Transported Bomb Materials in Ambulances," Jerusalem Post, (December 11, 2003). The accusations leveled against Israel by its critics have frequently been based on statements of international law, such as the Fourth Geneva Convention. It is true that the Geneva Convention does place particular emphasis on the immunity and neutrality of ambulances and emergency medical personnel. But the conclusion that Israel must ignore a clear and present danger to its citizens, or else violate international law, is a distortion. By using ambulances to smuggle explosives into Israel, it is the Palestinian terrorists who are compromising the Red Crescent's immunity and neutrality.[/B]

Senior Islamic Jihad Terrorist arrested while hiding in the Offices of the International Solidarity Movement in Jenin
IDF Spokesperson Announcement
28 March 2003
[IMRA: The IDF Spokeperson's Office told IMRA that the source of the confusion in earlier reports that claimed the terrorists were caught in Red Cross offices was that a number of organizations are located in the same building.]
Shadi Sukiya, a senior member of the Islamic Jihad in Jenin who was involved in the planning of several thwarted suicide attacks, was arrested by IDF troops while hiding in the offices of the International Solidarity Movement.
The IDF was conducting searches since last night for Sukiya in a complex of buildings. During the searches, an assistant to Sukiya surrendered, and 2 Kalashnikov rifles were founded. Based on intelligence information, the forces searched a building housing international organizations (Physicians without Borders, the Red Cross and the International Solidarity Movement). Sukiya was found hiding in the offices of the International Solidarity Movement. A handgun was also found.
Two foreign women activists of the organization, helped Sukiya hide from IDF forces.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that terrorists make use of offices and property of international and humanitarian organizations to carry out terror attacks and hide from the IDF forces. Such behavior puts the organizations and their staff and property at risk.
Sukiya, one of the senior Islamic jihad terrorists in Jenin, was involved in several thwarted suicide attacks including a planned suicide bus bombing in northern Israel in September another suicide attack in October, and planned suicide attack with an explosive suitcase in February.
Suykia was also involved in planting explosive devices and shooting attacks against IDF troop and Jewish communities in the Jenin area.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Israel cannot defeats Hamas because there will be another Hamas sooner or late who will fight for their freedom and lands back.

What I find appalling is that USA has been blocking every UN resolution to stop the overt massacre and violation of Palestinians human right and international law. Instead, US applauds what Israel is doing to a very starving, helpless, powerless and imprisoned people who have been looking for the international community for justice. But what illusionary they were, because they don’t know that the majority of the people who live in the West have been brainwashed by their one-sided media and governments that, Palestinians are terrorists, they are the evil and Israel is just only defending itself from these evil people.

So how do you expect these people who live in the West to react to what’s happening or has been to the Palestinians, when they came to believe that Palestinians are terrorists who want nothing but trouble. To the contrary, they are more likely to sympathize with the Israeli governments. I’ve asked so many people if they knew what’s the real cause to the Palestine and Israel conflict, 99 % have no idea rather than, there are terrorists group in Palestine which Israel is fighting. Don’t blame these ordinary people folks, they are good people whom I guarantee you would stand up against Israel’s injustice if they knew the truth to the conflict.

Hamas is not the Israeli target. The target is the same target it has been for 60 years. Ordinary Palestinian people who have first suffered the indignity of having their land stolen from them, then endured 60 years of appalling conditions within Palestine or exile outside it. Sixty years of physical and psychological violence and oppression.

Israel has no interest in a negotiated peace. Peace means withdrawal, it means relinquishing territory, whereas Israel is still bent on expansion. That is what the continued stealing of West Bank land and the expanding of settlements are all about, together with the demolition of Palestinian homes, the security wall, the stifling of the Palestinian economy by over 600 checkpoints and countless other cruel vexations.
Israel has never liked Palestinian moderates, for the simple reason that concessions might have to be made to them. To avoid being drawn into negotiations, it has always preferred Palestinian radicals - and when they were not there it has done everything it could to create them. "How can you negotiate with someone who wants to kill you?" is a familiar Israeli refrain.
The war on Gaza has confirmed Israel's visceral rejection of any expression of Palestinian nationalism. It will kill to prevent it, as 60 years of wars, assassinations and massacres testify. Consciously or not, Israeli leaders seem to fear that any recognition of Palestinian aspirations undermines the legitimacy of their own national enterprise.
It may be that the war was launched precisely because Hamas has recently shown signs of moderation. Its key spokesmen - including Khalid Mesha'al, head of its political bureau - have expressed their readiness to accept a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. To Israel's dismay, they have begun to distance themselves from the movement's 1987 charter, which calls for Israel's destruction.
The Qassam rockets were a great embarrassment to the Israeli government. It was unable to stop them except by agreeing a truce. The rockets angered an Israeli population notoriously blind to any suffering but its own. But, in truth, the rockets were no more than highly irritating pin-pricks.
Feel sorry for the decent peace-loving Americans who forced to bear the expenses of Israel’s greed and self-served objectives.

Peace/Love

Israel is so good at using the West to work for its illegitimate causes, and good at using their wealth to influence some decision makers, and know how to spread their misleading propagandas to conceal and persuade people to accept its war crime as self-defence against whom they labelled as “terrorists”.
Israel is committing an overt holocaust against starving powerless people (Palestinian) whom crime only is fighting for their freedom and lands’ right.

Don't Blame Zionism For The Violent Arab Culture
15:46 Aug 13, '04 / 26 Av 5764

The journalist and former Kuwaiti Communications Minister, Dr. Sa'ad Bin-Tafla, said that violent tendencies in Arab culture have deep roots and are not a product of the conflict with Zionism.

"I believe we are all responsible for this culture and Zionism and Imperialism have no part in it," Bin-Tafla declared in a recent interview with Jordanian television, "It is incorrect to say that violence is the result of the occupation. The French occupation left Algeria after a million victims fell, and then 100,000 Algerians were slaughtered by other Algerians, in the name of Islam, within less than ten years. That is to say, sadly, more than even Israel could have killed during the period of the intifada. This violence has cultural roots, unconnected to the occupation....

"The number of killed in Algeria and those killed by other Arab regimes is greater than the number of Palestinians killed by Israel..." the former Kuwaiti minister explained, adding, "There is a culture of violence that existed before the Americans arrived in Iraq and the Gulf, and even before the Israeli occupation in Palestine; before the American occupation in Afghanistan...."

Bin-Tafla stated, "the slaughter, the destructive abuse, the anarchy and the bloodshed do not approach in any way the legal definition of Jihad or resistance. It is anarchy and terrorism and is indicative of frustration and a culture of collective suicide reminiscent of whales [which beach themselves]. Such a culture stems from objective and personal reasons."

Bin-Tafla traces the source of much of the frustration among Arab youth to "an extremist religious stream" in the Islamic world. "It tells [the youth], 'You must achieve one of two things - martyrdom or victory,'" the Kuwaiti journalist explained, "It prettifies the culture of violence and describes it as resistance and Jihad."

Bin-Tafla also lays the blame on the Arab media: "Unfortunately, many in television, radio and print media... pushed these youth towards frustration and caused them to die needlessly, killing others with them, and to divide the world into black and white."

Former Muslim Terrorist Speaks Out on Israel´s Behalf
12:04 Nov 25, '05 / 23 Cheshvan 5766
By Debbie Berman

Zachariah Anani, an Ex-Muslim militant who grew up in Lebanon hating the state of Israel, has since become one of Israel’s most staunch supporters.

Click to hear the interview with the former terrorist.

Anani, along with two other former Muslims, plans to address an audience at Princeton University next month to voice his controversial views.

"I was brought up to hate Jews and Israel. That was my first raising, my first attitude," Zachariah Anani told Israel National Radio's Tovia Singer.

Anani describes the circumstances that prompted him to make the decision to turn his life around. "In the 70's I became a Christian, but even as a Christian, Jews didn’t mean anything to me. One day someone asked me a question regarding Jews, and I really didn’t know the answer. I started studying Jewish history. I was shocked and amazed at how much the Jews had suffered, how much they had endured. That’s what made me have a change of heart," he explained. "Thank G-d, I spent most of my short militant life fighting against my own kind. Fate never put me against the Israeli army," Anani added.

Anani says that a quick look at modern Zionist history makes it clear that Israel has enjoyed divine protection and assistance. "G-d is with Israel. If every Arab country were to send a million soldiers to surround Israel, which would be 23 million soldiers, Israel would be doomed. How did they win five wars in the past? Because G-d was there," he said.

In addition, Anani shared his opposition to the recent withdrawal from Gaza and his belief that future efforts to give up land for peace would be disastrous for Israel. "I have no clue why Israel left Gaza, why the righteous owner of a land would give up part of their inheritance and freedom. It would be another big blow if Israel gave up the West Bank." he affirmed. "A long time ago when Sadat signed a peace treaty with Israel, I believed at best this treaty gave the Jews one hundred years to pack up and leave," Anani said.

Anani expressed his strong views regarding the current tension between Israel and the Hizbullah, stating that he thought Israel should have completed the task of eradicating the Hizbullah terrorist forces that control Southern Lebanon before they withdrew their forces from the region in May, 2000. "I don’t know how the intelligence of the Israeli military did not finish the job. This is the only way, "he said.

Anani's radical viewpoint has made him a continued target for terrorists seeking to silence him. "In twenty years there have been twenty attempts on my life. I was forced to escape to Canada. I am now a Canadian citizen, but I am still not free from unfortunate incidents. Recently someone tried to set fire to my car and my house," Anani stated.

Anani is slated to be part of a panel discussion at Princeton University on December 8th where he will speak about Israel, Lebanon, the Hizbullah, and peace in the Middle East. Additional former Muslim terrorists who became Israel supporters, Walid Shoebat and Ibraham Abdullah, will join Anani in the panel at the Princeton event.

Anani ended his radio interview with an inspiring message to Israelis: "Hold on and keep the fight till the end. Don’t give up. Stop giving up."

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

The truth is that, as long as Israel is protected by the superpower's umbrella it remains deaf to all humanitarian pleas. In truth, thanks to the unconditional support of the US, Israel is the sole country on earth that is a law unto itself. It ignores the Fourth Geneva Convention, which disallows collective punishment and demands an occupying power must provide for the people it occupies, with impunity. It maintains a massive nuclear arsenal under a globally-recognised policy of nuclear ambiguity specific to Israel. In answer to those who dare to criticise it hides behind disingenuous shrieks of anti-Semitism.

I just cannot comprehend an impoverished, hungry population whose only weapons are stones and homemade rockets, are being heartlessly massacred by the fourth most powerful army on earth. I thought we pride ourselves as having evolved beyond the cruel level of survival of the fittest. I am honestly embarrassed to be a member of the human race

The solution is very simple than what you’d imagine. If Israel is genuinely wants peace, then it could says to the Palestinians, here is your lands back, and let us leave peacefully in our lands too – it’s that simple to achieve peace, it’s incredibly what is needed for peace. Israel has brushed aside all the fair peace-resolutions which have been presented to it, the last one was by the French President.

The French President Nicolas Sarkozy when he visited Israel on June 22-24. He really hits Israel where it hurts.

He spoke as an intimate friend - certainly Israel's best friend in Europe - but he did not mince his words, both on his arrival and in the Knesset.
"The time to make peace is now," he told the Israelis. "Tomorrow, it will be too late." Rarely has a foreign leader spelled out so clearly what Israel has to do for peace - and what it has sought at all costs to avoid.
Sarkozy laid particular emphasis on three points, which he hammered in at every opportunity. The first, and most important, was this: "Israel's security will not be truly assured until we see, at last, at its side an independent, modern, democratic and viable Palestinian state."
Two other themes were given equal prominence - and were equally unwelcome to many Israelis. "There can be no peace without an immediate and complete halt to settlements," he declared. The settlers, he said, should be compensated and brought back to Israel. And then - in a statement which was nothing less than sacrilege for Israeli hard-liners - he added: "There can be no peace without recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of two states and the guarantee of free access to the holy places for all religions."
In his reply to Sarkozy, Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was quick to say that "We don't always agree on every issue, on every detail, see things exactly the same way".

At a visit to Israel Condoleezza Rice dared to say that "continued settlement activity has the potential to harm the peace talks." The chairman of the settlement council called her remarks "impertinent and shameless". "Israel he has been spat in the face and the government treats it as rain drops".

The benefits of peace for Israel would be enormous. Normal relations with all 22 members of the Arab League; an end to the armed resistance of Hezbollah and Hamas; a new chapter in relations with Iran.

Peace/Love

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Hi, I just read this in the mainstream media..

"Recently formed advocacy group Kiwi Friends of Israel, which had representatives monitoring the march, said it was concerned by the presence of swastikas on signs carried by some marchers."

Can someone who was there confirm that swastikas were on signs in this rally? And if so, to what purpose??

nc

Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

At the Auckland rally, some signs coupled the Israeli and US flags with swastikas to get across the point that Israel is behaving in a genocidal/fascist manner towards the Palestinians. One cartoon depicted an IDF rolling over Gaza as having a swastika tread. I didn't think it was a good look, personally, but I didn't think there was anything particularly horrible about it either.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

'his so-called 'innocent young girl tennis player' Shahar Peer, is a proud supporter of a racist country founded on the theft of Palestinian land and the terrorism of Palestinian people.'

Yeah, good logic. I'm proud to be a Kiwi, that means that if Kiwi's do anything along these lines, I must be a racist.

Once again, after seeing how the 'Protesters' here in New Zealand act, the more I see how far their heads are up their asses. Because of course the Arab nations haven't been trying to kill The Jews since they got there, right? Oh no!

Face it. It's been.. What, 60 years or so since Israel was formed? It's a bit late for a do-over. At the end of the day, I disagree with War. But I'm also a realist enough to know that it does happens, and a bunch of bigots protesting against a race is not going to change that fact. You hate Israel for what they're doing. Yet you refuse to acknowlage the fact that Palastine's been launching missles and mostly going out of their way to frag them every chance they get. They're ruled by Hammas -- A group that is a True 'Terrorist' group, in every meaning of the word.

Yet you'll support them.

You people are fails. And, while not all of you are totally stupid, the majority that do things that just brings shame. You protest things against people who have said time again 'I have nothing to do with this.' You taunt the 'other'side into doing something violent towards you, then cry about it afterwards like a child with a broken toy.

Mostly, you do not use logic. You protest every. Single. Thing. You. Can. For no other reason than 'I DON'T AGREE WITH IT IT MUST BE WRONG! I AM ALWAYS RIGHT!!!'

Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

pff whatever. believe what you want mate.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Shahar Peer fought in the Israeli Army, which has had a long history of committing atrocities against civilians.

"Yeah, good logic. I'm proud to be a Kiwi, that "means that if Kiwi's do anything along these lines, I must be a racist."

Quite possibly you are. It depends upon what you mean by 'Kiwi'. If you definition of 'Kiwi' is the same as that of the National Party or similar, people who deny the crimes that groups such as the New Zealand Company have committed against Maori, then you are a racist.

"Because of course the Arab nations haven't been trying to kill The Jews since they got there, right? Oh no!"

If your country has been colonised in a violent fashion, your reaction would likely be violent as well.

"Face it. It's been.. What, 60 years or so since Israel was formed? It's a bit late for a do-over."

Time does not make something wrong into something right. For example, the United States had hundreds of years of slavery and that was never right.

"a bunch of bigots protesting against a race"

It is not about race. We are against ZIONISM, the political movement based on making the State of Israel into THE HOMELAND for Jewish people. We are not antisemitic, in fact some of us are Jewish.

"They're ruled by Hammas -- A group that is a True 'Terrorist' group, in every meaning of the word."

Hamas (not Hammas), or more specifically Ḥarakat al-Muqāwamat al-Islāmiyyah, meaning "Islamic Resistance Movement", is the government that was democratically elected by Palestinian people. Most groups that consider them terrorists are the United States, Israel and their allies... and they have strong political reasons for doing so. Hamas are not the only political party or organisation that represents Palestinian people.

"You protest things against people who have said time again 'I have nothing to do with this.'You taunt the 'other'side into doing something violent towards you".

Name one Zionist politician who has said that without lying. How does mostly peaceful protest taunt violence?

"Mostly, you do not use logic. You protest every. Single. Thing. You. Can."

People in a (so-called) democracy have the right to dissent or disagree. If everyone gave blind patriotic support to the government, you would have a fascist state. If something is wrong, people like us will protest every. Single. Time. We. Can. Again. And. Again. Until. The. Wrong. No. Longer. Exists.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Zionism is to Palistine as Feminism is to the Child.

In order to assert one right, the other must die.

None are evil in their own right. Who denies the importance of Isreal to the Jew? No-one. Who denies the right of women to be equal to men? No-one.

However it is the need of the oppressed to opress the other in order to see that they are free. A cruel irony indeed.

Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

What does feminism have to do with this?

And actually I know several Jews who refuse to go to Israel because they think it is wrong for Jews to be there under the current circumstances.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

It’s never been about anti-Semitic, it’s merely about injustice and occupation, there are large numbers of Jewish people around the world who hate and disapprove of what the Zionism regime has been doing to a starving and powerless people in the name of Jewish people.

Shahar Peer fought in the Israeli Army, which has had a long history of committing atrocities against civilians.

--- They don't have a choice. Get over it.

Quite possibly you are. It depends upon what you mean by 'Kiwi'. If you definition of 'Kiwi' is the same as that of the National Party or similar, people who deny the crimes that groups such as the New Zealand Company have committed against Maori, then you are a racist.

--- I love this country, and the people inside it. I believe crimes were commited against the maori, but I also believe 'claiming land back' isn't the way to solve it.

If your country has been colonised in a violent fashion, your reaction would likely be violent as well.

--- Yes, but I think after 30 years I would just get on with it. They're not going to vanish. And targeting civilians isn't the way to do it. Which is what Hamas has been doing since they came to power. Or did you forget about that?

Time does not make something wrong into something right. For example, the United States had hundreds of years of slavery and that was never right.

--- You're right. But I don't see the Black people in America breaking down and crying going 'BUT WE USED TO BE SLAVES! Well.... Not US, but our family. Way back in the day. WAAAH!'

It is not about race. We are against ZIONISM, the political movement based on making the State of Israel into THE HOMELAND for Jewish people. We are not antisemitic, in fact some of us are Jewish.

-- Narp. Use your own logic. You don't like how Jews go about doing something, you must be antisemitic. Well, that's the view alot of you seem to hold. Say something against the Maori, BANG, Racist.

Name one Zionist politician who has said that without lying. How does mostly peaceful protest taunt violence?

If something is wrong, people like us will protest every. Single. Time. We. Can. Again. And. Again. Until. The. Wrong. No. Longer. Exists.

-- Only wrong in your eyes. If the majority of people believe it's right, then who are you to go around breaking windows or harassing people walking down the street? Democracy, the majoirty rules.

Nice try, though.

Annnnd.. As that other post says.. Using the Red Cresent to move troops/suicide bombers.. Yeah. I think they can afford to be stopped and searched.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

"Zionism is to Palistine as Feminism is to the Child.
In order to assert one right, the other must die."

Except that many Feminists have children.

"None are evil in their own right. Who denies the importance of Isreal to the Jew? No-one."

The problem with this argument is that most Jews are happy to live in countries that are not Israel.

"--- They don't have a choice. Get over it."

Everyone has a choice. There have been a number of situations where Jews opposed to what the Israeli Army does have refused to serve in it or have ignored orders that were criminal.

"And targeting civilians isn't the way to do it. Which is what Hamas has been doing since they came to power. Or did you forget about that?"

Hamas are not perfect. I give critical support to the underdog in this, the Palestinians. I will repeat what I wrote earlier: Hamas are not the only political party or organisation that represents Palestinian people.

"-- Narp. Use your own logic. You don't like how Jews go about doing something, you must be antisemitic. Well, that's the view alot of you seem to hold."

I have no problem with how MOST Jews go about doing something. What I do have is a problem with how a political group of Jews, who are NOT the majority, who call themselves Zionists, do things.
Also how can you be antisemitic if you support the self-determination of a semitic people: Palestinians?

"-- So if they're voted in, then them launching missles at Israel must clearly be an act of War. Yet no, you stay silent for that."

Ofcourse it is an act of war... However this war has been going on for most of the 60 years since Palestine was first invaded by Zionist settlers. A few rockets, who have killed about 13 people, is mild when compared with the nine hundred or so Palestinians the State of Israel has killed since the start of this latest conflict.

"-- Only wrong in your eyes. If the majority of people believe it's right, then who are you to go around breaking windows or harassing people walking down the street? Democracy, the majoirty rules."

My eyes are the ones that count to me. Stop being a bleating sheep and start to question what people in authority say and do. They are not always right.

Democracy, the 'majoirty' rules in Gaza too, under Hamas... Oh but if a government commits 'terrorist' acts it must be EVIL.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

You're a total tool. From reading what's on this page there's pretty much over-whelming proof about how Palastine and Hamas are pretty much total fuckwits who brought a war on themselves. I notice there's only one.. Maybe two people trying to defend them, too. But anyway, on with the rebuttal.

'Ofcourse it is an act of war... However this war has been going on for most of the 60 years since Palestine was first invaded by Zionist settlers. A few rockets, who have killed about 13 people, is mild when compared with the nine hundred or so Palestinians the State of Israel has killed since the start of this latest conflict.

---- You're right. It's almost like the Palestinians took on a modern day army. With Rockets and suicide bombers. Funny how they're getting knocked around then. Makes no sense, does it? /sarcasim.

Look, you start a fight with someone bigger than you, with more tech, and better training, and of course you're going to end up losing more people. It's simple. They started a fight they can't win. Actually, they've been starting this fight for a long time. Now Israel is getting her own back. How unfair can you people be?

"-- Only wrong in your eyes. If the majority of people believe it's right, then who are you to go around breaking windows or harassing people walking down the street? Democracy, the majoirty rules."

My eyes are the ones that count to me. Stop being a bleating sheep and start to question what people in authority say and do. They are not always right.

--- And just because people in authority say it is so, does not mean they are always wrong.

Democracy, the 'majoirty' rules in Gaza too, under Hamas... Oh but if a government commits 'terrorist' acts it must be EVIL. '

-- How many governments do you know purposely train up people to hide in ambulences and blow themselves up? They don't come across as a 'nice' governement to me. Oh, and they preach genocide. So basically, they're like Nazis. Only without the resources.

Sounds like you should never argue again.

================================

Here is Hamas "Member of Parliament" Fathi Hammad, bragging about the Hamas use of human shields.

Fathi Hammad: "[The enemies of Allah] do not know that the Palestinian people has developed its [methods] of death and death-seeking. For the Palestinian people, death has become an industry, at which women excel, and so do all the people living on this land. The elderly excel at this, and so do the mujahideen and the children. This is why they have formed human shields of the women, the children, the elderly, and the mujahideen, in order to challenge the Zionist bombing machine. It is as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: "We desire death like you desire life."

Hamas raids aid trucks, sells supplies

Jan. 12, 2009
YAAKOV KATZ and JPost.com staff , THE JERUSALEM POST
Hamas on Monday raided some 100 aid trucks that Israel had allowed into Gaza, stole their contents and sold them to the highest bidders.

The IDF said that since terminal activity is coordinated with UNRWA and the Red Cross, Israel could do nothing to prevent such raids, Israel Radio reported.

Between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the army had ceased all military activity in Gaza and once again established a "humanitarian corridor" to help facilitate the transfer of the supplies.

The Kerem Shalom and Karni crossings had been opened to allow in the aid trucks.

Security officials at Kerem Shalom thwarted an attempt to smuggle electrical goods, disguised as humanitarian supplies, into Gaza. The electrical goods included computers, infra-red cameras, ovens, microwaves and other electronic equipment.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak has forbidden the entry of electronics to Gaza since the goods do not fall under the category of humanitarian aid. Some electronic equipment has been let in as per an official Palestinian request, such as equipment used to repair the damaged electrical grid in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israel is considering establishing a field hospital in the Gaza Strip to treat Palestinian civilians wounded in fighting between the IDF and Hamas.

The plan would be to establish the field hospital outside the Gaza Strip, but the IDF is also considering the possibility of erecting the hospital inside the Palestinian territory so it will be more accessible to the Palestinian population. It would be run by the IDF Medical Corps.

Also Monday, in an effort to promote Israeli humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip, the Defense Ministry launched a new Web site that provides a live video feed of the Kerem Shalom cargo crossing, through which international organizations have been transferring basic foods and medical supplies to Gaza.

The footage can be viewed at: http://www.mod.gov.il/pages/general/Maavar-Kerem-Shalom.asp. Since the beginning of Operation Cast Lead, the IDF has facilitated the transfer of close to 900 trucks into the Gaza Strip with over 20,000 tons of basic foods and medical supplies.

According to an army estimate on Monday, slightly over 900 Palestinians have been killed since Operation Cast Lead began in December 2008. Based on intelligence and information obtained by the Gaza Coordination and Liaison Administration, the IDF has determined that at least 400 of those killed are known Hamas operatives. The IDF further believes that among the remaining 500, a significant number are also Hamas operatives.

Looks like proof to me. I notice all you Anti's have STFU and moved on.

Guess it's confusing your morals when you have to defend people who launch missles and use human shields.

Re: Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Allah Is NOT God!
You've seen them on the news, blowing up buildings, and in movies, stealing babies and killing Christians. I've seen a few of these so-called "people" up close when I've visited the Holy Land. You don't want to get too close, because they don't use deodorant and they sweat garlic. It's not pleasant. They smell as bad as Injuns. And they're just plain mean to everyone. Now, I don't want to talk about the Mooslim people today. If I were to start, we'd miss this afternoon's football game because I'd be talking for hours. What I do want to talk about today is what the Mooslim people believe. Their jaded history, their false idol "Allah" and his son, Moohummad, and their Hell-wrought quest for vengeance against the true God who rightfully cut them out of their eternal inheritance.

Everyone knows the story of Abram. If you don't, then read Genesis chapters 12-22. God promised Abram his own country. The only problem was that Abram didn't have a son. He might not have cared about it much, but his wife, Sa'rai, knew that by God's law, her husband's earthly possessions would go to the head servant if there weren't no kids around. She got worried and forgot God's promise to her husband, and in a fit of desperation, she offered up her Egyptian servant, Hagar to, Abram. Hagar got jealous of Sa'rai after having sexual relations with Abram, as women are wont to do. Sa'rai saw this, and with Abram's blessing, she kicked the harlot out of the house. Turns out Hagar had a son. It is this son, and all of his descendants that are causing most of the problems in the world today. His name was Ishmael, and he was the first towel-head, or to use a politically correct term, A-rab. God told Hagar in Genesis 16:10-12, "And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him." Ishmael was to father powerful nations, but none of his descendants would be allowed to go to Heaven after they died. They were born bad.

The real treat came when Abram was 90-years old and he circumcised himself with a sharp stone. That made his penis pure enough to get through to Sa'rai and produce a real son named Isaac. God told him he was to cut at the penises of every descendant born through Sa'rai if he wanted his family to be blessed on Earth and go to Heaven after they died. It would still have been mandatory for all of us today to cut off our penises if Paul didn't come along and tell us it was just an option. I suggest you do so, if you haven't already. It adds a nice Old Testament touch, and your penis will look just like Jesus' penis.

Let's jump forward a few thousand years. The descendants of Ishmael are running around in the desert worshipping all kinds of gods. Satan saw that a large portion of them were worshipping the moon-god. Some were even worshipping the daughters of the moon-god, Al-lat, Al-uzza, and Manat. They were called "The Daughters of Allah." The moon-god was called "Allah." Old Lucifer got it into his big red head that he could unite all of these idol-worshipping towel-heads under Allah. He did this by appearing to a person that was already very upset that God wasn't going to let him go to heaven just because he was a descendent of Ishmael. That feller's name was Moohammad. Demons helped him write a book called, "the Ko-ran," which is basically an instruction manual on how to kill anyone who doesn't worship the moon. Now we have entire countries of God-hating moon-worshippers shooting everyone out of jealousy, just because God isn't going to let them go to Heaven. Why, it's even got so twisted up that nowadays, these Mooslims (moon worshippers) think that they are the ones going to Heaven and everyone else is going to Hell. It's a shame that none of them can read English. If they did, they could open up the Bible and find out that God had it out for them from day one. The only way for them to avoid Hell is to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. And it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon, because the minute you start running your mouth about Jesus being the Son of God, they shoot you dead.

Lol.

Re: Re: Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

Oh the irony! You make us sick.

Re: Photos from Palestine Solidarity Demo in Wellington

1. The BURMA ROAD which runs along the main entrance to Jerusalem, but up above the main road in the hills, was expressly carved out b/c the A-rabs had CUT OFF Jerusalem and were starving the Jewish residents of the city. No 'Humanitarian Crisis' screams then, right?

2. The JEWS OF THE JEWISH QUARTER IN THE OLD CITY ('HaRova HaYehudi') were totally cut off from all supplies by the Jordanian Arab Legion and were without food or water for several days until the survivors were expelled. Lest anybody think that the Jews suddenly returned to Jerusalem in '1948', the Jordanian General set the record straight by declaring as the refugees traipsed out with their bundles on their shoulders: 'Now for the first time in 3,000 years, Jerusalem will be rid of its Jews.' No cries of 'Ethnic Cleansing' then, right?

3. The INFAMOUS ATTACK ON THE HADASSAH MEDICAL CONVOY was a bloodthirsty attack on a MEDICAL AID CONVOY winding its way up to Mount Scopus to bring doctors, nurses and medical supplies on April 20, 1948. All 70+ travelers were not only wiped out, but most were burned alive and others had their bodies mutilated and the men's genitalia were cut off. The Jewish fighters who could not reach the victims called on the remaining British forces for help--'Humanitarian Aid'--since they were nearby, but they were rebuffed. In Ben-Gurion's diary, he wrote:
"The convoy set out at 9:10. There were 10 vehicles, over 70 passengers. Webb, the British police commander, was asked whether everything was in order and he answered: "The way is clear." At the crossroads between the university and Sh'hem Road, a car went up on a mine. The British army stationed nearby did nothing to interfere with the Arab vandals. The cars were set on fire and most of the passengers were burned alive. About 30 bodies could be identified. Nothing remained of the others but ashes. The British army did not allow the Hagana to go to the aid of the convoy."

4. And then of course there's the HEBRON MASSACRE OF 1929. On August 23, 1929, some friendly A-rabs had warned the Jews that a massacre was being planned. The Jewish Community leaders drove to Jerusalem to appeal to the British [funny how they keep showing up in Jewish massacre scenes...] bujt the British replied that they heard of no such intelligence report and that the Jews should go back to their homes. The Jews requested weapons but were turned down flat. The A-rabs attacked the Jewish Community starting with rock throwing on Friday night, but escalating to a full-fledged massacre throughout Shabbat morning and all day. By the time the massacres ended, 67 Jews lay dead and the survivors were 'relocated' by the British to Jerusalem leaving Hebron barren of Jews for the first time in hundreds of years. Oh, and did I mention that the Hebron British Police Commander sat ramrod straight on his horse(!) throughout the morning except for when he bent to swing his baton to shoo away the frightened Jews who were trying to cling to him for safety? BUT WASN'T THIS 38 YEARS BEFORE THE '1967 OCCUPIED TERRITORY' THEORY, YOU MIGHT ASK? Reply: 'Yup'!

Israel, Palestine Now Fighting Over Cemetery Space

Israeli tanks move in to protect the country's dead settlers.

JERUSALEM—After decades of bitter conflict and the loss of thousands of innocent lives, Israeli and Palestinian forces clashed once again this week, with each side laying claim to a five-mile stretch of desperately needed cemetery space.

Fighting over the disputed territory, which is located on the easternmost border of the Gaza Strip, has thus far resulted in more than four dozen casualties. According to sources, the swath of cemetery space is being called the rightful burial home of both the Israeli and Palestinian people.

"Israel has always been the deathplace of the Jews," said Moshe Abrahim, a religion professor at Bar-Ilan University. "My father was killed here, and his father and mother, and both of his uncles before him were killed here. To have this area occupied by Palestinian bodies is an insult to our great history."

Added Abrahim, "I'd sooner die than give up my God-given grave."

The first episodes of violence over the narrow strip of cemetery began early Monday morning when a Palestinian suicide bomber detonated himself outside of a Jewish mausoleum, leaving one dead and outraging hundreds. In response, Israel launched a series of swift air strikes, destroying six Palestinian funeral homes and killing an estimated 15 pallbearers.

Unfazed by the counterattack, Islamic extremists vowed never to surrender, and said they would continue to perish "for as long as it takes."

"So many martyrs for almighty Allah and His blessed prophet Mohammed have sacrificed their lives so that we might someday lose ours," said Ali Akhtar, leader of the terrorist organization known as Islam's Undertakers. "Palestine will not rest until each and every one of its sons has a place beneath this glorious land. Our day of victory is at hand!"

Since Monday's attack, violence has erupted across the disputed region, with Islamic radicals throwing rocks and launching mortar fire at approaching Jewish hearses. Fearing that the prized graveyard would be lost to a surge of Palestinian bodies, Israel reportedly took action, sealing 500 soldiers inside military coffins and placing them in strategic tombs.

Israeli troops have been ordered to stand their ground and remain interred indefinitely.

In a press conference Wednesday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that the state of Israel was doing everything in its power to prevent Palestinians from being buried inside the cemetery, including setting up security checkpoints to inspect suspicious vehicles for shovels, tombstones, and embalming fluid.

Olmert, however, would not respond to questions about whether Israel had overstepped its boundaries during an incident earlier this week that saw four Palestinian octogenarians detained on suspicion of being "on the brink of death."

As is often the case in the region, innocent civilians from both sides have borne the brunt of the fighting. Asalaa Bahiya— a recently dead Palestinian woman—was repeatedly fired upon by Israeli soldiers after her body was spotted entering the disputed cemetery. In addition, a young Israeli cadaver was captured by Islamic militants, blindfolded, and dragged from a nearby Jerusalem morgue.

"How could God have allowed this to happen?" said Yitzchak Meltzer, a grieving Tel Aviv resident who watched helplessly as his firstborn son was driven from his grave by extremists. "To have to rebury your own child—it's a parent's worst nightmare come true."

Though some hold out hope for the day when Israeli and Palestinian citizens are buried side by side in peace and harmony, all attempts to bring the conflict to a close have so far failed. A United States–sponsored peace plan that proposed dividing the cemetery space directly in half was dismissed as unjust by both sides, with each claiming it was entitled to the entire graveyard. Likewise, a compromise solution to cremate all deceased citizens was rejected by Israel as "barbaric."

With bodies mounting on both sides, members of the ruling Hamas Party released a statement Monday suggesting that the violence could continue for years to come.

"As long as Israelis continue to age, decline in vigor and strength, and ultimately pass away, never will their nation know the meaning of peace," the statement read in part. "Either they stop dying at once, or prepare to suffer the consequences."
