Im surprised the police bothered to conduct the raids. I doubt those arrested could ever form an effective militia, they couldn't even organise a protest to arrive at parliament before the act is passed! Or couldn't see the police filming their training camps mere metres away. Hardly a crack team of commandos. But really how can you read Monday's Dompost and still say they are harmless and non-violent? The police had to do something, even though they have got better things to do than babysit a bunch of protesters dressed in army surplus and balaclavas trying to look tough. You are welcome to protest, but if you want the police to leave you alone, stop collecting guns talking about killing people, starting wars and dying for your cause. Minto's argument that they were baiting the police by talking provocatively is pretty weak, why attract the police deliberately?

The Tuhoe people deserve an apology from the government and the police due to how they were treated during the raids. I believe that the people that participated in the hikoi deserve to be heard and shame on Helen Clarke for not meeting them. Many of us are concerned that the T.S.A. law breaches our human rights and we all have the right to be heard. To turn this forum into a petty slinging match about who is or isn't on a benefit really misses the point. It could be you next....or your children.

How come both main political parties, led by Peters [who is Foreign Minister and strutting big in the US], plus the cops, SIS [well they would given the chance] and now the media, are conspiring [don't need any theory!] to 'criminalise' Maori and other activists?

So what motivates this campaign/operation is something much more to do with money, and in particular, Mr Imperialist moneybags.

Getting their message out that the Tribunal settlement better redress the past wrongs.
What actually is it about? - the ownership of the Kaingaroa and the investments of US/EU multinationals in profiting from this resource.

So the conversation probably goes something like this:
Rayonier which is US forestry giant, along with Deusche Bank -probably its US branch - which took over CHH holdings in this area and want the trees out, and say to Winston "hey what's with the indigenous people down there?"
Winston say's "There are no indigenous people there, in fact theyre back in Taiwan".
"No I mean the ones shooting the flag and blocking the road and stopping our milling"?
"Oh. That's just a film set for the 'Tuhoe Nation' the sequel to 'Utu' did you see it?"

Helen Clark has discussed matters <i>sub judice</i> in the newspapers. How would a former university Professor do this, as the current PM, within 3 days of the arrests, if she didn't already know that the Police had F*cked up, and not a single charge had sufficient evidence to be convicted?

I was on the hikoi, Why? because it was my whanau who were arrested and falsely accussed by the Police, Public and this Govt. To all those idiots who have written comments about dole bluggers let me get it straight I work and so do many others that were on the hikoi. And to be blunt about things I probably earn more money than you do. And the boy doing the fingers to cops, thats my nephew you twits who still attends school... So to all those idiots out there who enjoy pointing the finger there WILL come a time in your life when you will need us to support whatever your kaupapa is against the government. And when that happens I hope you remember what comments you have made. For those who enjoy the crap those on the news love filling your heads with, here's something they haven't told you - a majority of those Tuhoe arrested are alcohol and drug free, who have been working with our rangatahi for years. It doesn't matter to me how you people see things, cause like I said your time will come, and will see how well you hold up under scrutiny.

Those who were involved in the hikoi should be proud to take a stand. i am Pakeha and until recently i have been blind to the incredible injustices that Maori face daily. I position myself as Pakeha rather than as a "kiwi" or "new zealander" to recognise maori as tangata whenua. i hope that i may be able to also stand up and say "this is wrong".
