Plastic Bag Ban Puts Collingwood On the Map
Strypey comments on the homicidal tendancies of the humble plastic shopping bag.
During my trip to Te Wai Pounamu over summer, I was thrilled to see that the town of Collingwood in Golden Bay has declared itself a plastic shopping bag free zone! This was a major step forward for a group of local greenies who call themselves the Bag Ladies.
Some people might think I'm a bit of a softy for getting excited about a small group of women campaigning against disposable shopping bags, but they affect this planet, our the survival of life upon it, in a number of ways.

Um should that be homicidal? Homocidal means killing gays and I don't think plastic bags are that discriminatory.

why do u point out that it is a group of WOMEN, when downplaying the importance of this item?
Re: Plastic Bag Ban Puts Collingwood On the Map
Women are an item? Not very pc.

"Some people might think I'm a bit of a softy for getting excited about a small group of women campaigning against disposable shopping bags..."
Isn't that a bit condescending?
Re: Plastic Bag Ban Puts Collingwood On the Map
At least he wasn't bagging the idea haha (multiple pun).
Re: Plastic Bag Ban Puts Collingwood On the Map
1) I wasn't downplaying the importance of the item, I was emphasizing its importance, by adding a bunch of reasons why it matters. That's what the "but" in the sentence indicates.
2) I anticipated some of the same marxist/ libertarian trolls who make scornful comments about animal rescues, making condescending comments, so I incorporated a rebuttal of them in support of the Bag Ladies into the article. That's what "some people might think" indicates.
3) If I hadn't mentioned that the group were women, no doubt I would have been bagged (pun intended) for failing to give female activists due credit. Damned if I do, damned if I don't.
I assume the last couple of comments were from my anti-cheerleading squad who are determined to paint me as a misogynist. Like criticizing the matriarchal threads within the broad church that is feminism is sexist or something. From these comments it seems your reading comprehension is as flawed as your sociological analysis. Either that or you just see what you want to see.
