David Rovics is an indie singer/songwriter and grassroots political protestor from the United States. His music is most accurately described as protest-folk and concerns topical subjects such as the 2003 Iraq war, anti-globalisation and social justice issues. Rovics is an outspoken critic of not only George W. Bush and the Republican Party, but also figures like John Kerry and the Democratic Party as a whole. Alistair Hulett is awesome, I'm really looking forward to this. He did a great version of the Internationale. It'd be cool if Roaring Jack got back together as well, but I doubt very much that it's going to happen...

...wish i was there!

I've got a David cd spinning as I write from Dublin, Ireland. David came and sang for us as we went it our third trial...after 3 years on bail and two previous trials..it was like having a good coach give a half time lift when the numbers were agianst us.

We went into third trial and were acquitted of $2 1/2 million crimnal damage to a U.S. war plane enroute to Iraq in 03...so that worked!
do yourself a favour, get to a gig if you can!

Re: David Rovics and Alistair Hulett - Aotearoa Tour Starts Toni

somebody show David around Paritutu while he is in Taranaki,, should help with his americanisms

Re: David Rovics and Alistair Hulett - Aotearoa Tour Starts Toni

"americansims"...he is american dude (two continents...big place)...it's a big world out here!

It requires one to be multilingual slang wise at least when one travels....the bouncers at "the church", kings cross, london don't seem to have a problem there and are clearly from aotearoa...they sound like their from aotearoa and their 12,000 miles away from home!

there's obligations about being a good host and a good guest where ever you go and whoever drops in, invited or not
