Vigil Against right-wing coup in Honduras
On Monday Honduras' democratically elected President, Manuel Zelaya, was overthrown in a right-wing military coup. The military kidnapped Zelaya and forced him on a plane to Costa Rica. Other members of the government, as well as the Ambassadors of Cuba, Venezuela and Bolivia were kidnapped and beaten by soldiers. Soldiers have shut down TV stations and newspapers and other means of communication.
There has been widespread rioting and protests against the coup in Honduras. Leftist groups are around the World are mobilising to support the people of Honduras and their resistance against fascism.
This Saturday, Socialist Aotearoa will be holding a vigil in solidarity with the social movements resisting the military coup.
