Re: Al Nakba: 60 years of colonisation | 60 years of resistance

My great-great-grandfather was a European Jew. He arrived in New Zealand over 100 years ago, and this was where he died. Many of his descendants have lived in New Zealand since then. I can't and won't use my ancestor to claim a connection to Europe. The State of Israel was created on Palestinian land by people whose only 'right' to be there was based on a loose connection through mostly forgotten ancestors to a land where other people have lived for hundreds of years. Any religious rights to the 'Land of Canaan' were lost when the Israeli people broke their Covenant with God. To any Zionists who think that the State of Israel was a good idea, please name a post-1948 settlement that was built without forcefully taking the land off the Palestinian people who were living there. A Jewish Homeland is simply any country where Jewish people have lived peacefully with others, this is much more true of New York City than the State of Israel.
