Th epolice have actually kept pretty quiet. They've been badgered into making some statements by the media, but they haven't been leaking prejudicial information left right and centre like the AFP did during the Haneef case. So accusing them of "PR and self justification" is unwarrnted. They've been asked about a story with a high public interest index, they've given some information explaining why they thought it necessary to take action, nothing more.
