250 people protested against 'the war machine' in Wellington on Saturday. World-wide protests marked the thrid anniversary of the US-led invasion of Iraq. Speakers talked about New Zealand's imperialist involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq. Five people
were arrested outside the American Embassy following a
waterbomb attack on the embassy at the very end of the march. The activists have been
charged with wilful damage (2), obstruction (3) and resisting arrest (1).

In Hamilton 600 packets of pretzels and leaflets
were handed out as a reference to George W. Bush almost choked on a pretzel in January 2002 while watching an NFL football game, briefly fainting and losing consciousness.
In Auckland, around 200-300 people marched from the US Consulate up to the ANZ bank and back past the UK Consulate to QE2 square for the
SuperSizeMyPay rally and march to Myers Park.

That these rallies are held is very important, because without them who will give the public the chance to voice their displeasure at a world gone crazy?
