Confederation members set up road blockades and fight for their forest
Confederation members set up two roadblocks on Thursday afternoon near Waimana. The protest is directed against the sale of 94,300 hectares of timberland last year. Rayonier, a Florida-based multi-national company which is the seventh largest private owner of timberland in the United States, bought the forest of Carter Holt Harvey for $435 million.
Two roads into the Matahi Forest and the public Matahi Valley Road are being blocked with metal gates, cars and cones. Up to 50 people are at blockades and a camp has been set up.
Tangata Whenua have taken action against Carter Holt Harvey, the
2001 Roger award winner, for many years in this dispute.
Omuriwaka kaumatua Tom Te Pairi said: "Rayonier have brought stolen property, so that is why we are at the gate there turning them away." The metal gate has been erected on the Matahi Valley Road at a point where it crosses Maori-owned land.
"You take a look at the devastation up there," said Henare Heremia. "We¹re wanting to protect the forest - the pine trees should be gone in 30 years and native forest should be regenerated." Looking after the environment was a form of spiritual practice that is needed to save the earth from the dangers it is facing. "And that¹s not achieved by politicians writing laws, but people on the ground making a stand."

"Its a sad day when patched gang members can occupy private property and through threats theft and intimidation stop hard working honest logging crews from making a living the rest of Aotearoa should be scared of this sort of radical minority behaviour"
I am scared of patched gang mambers protecting private property, that was stolen land now desicrated. These gang members are apart of the biggest gang, they wear their patches on their shoulders and hats and dress in blue.
We should be scared of radical minority behaviour becouse it means the majority are swallowing this shit that is white supremacy disguised as democracy. x mark
Re: Re: Confederation members set up road blockades and fight for their forest
Kia ano for all the tautoko from everyone.
We are not a part of Kohuiarau or mana motuhake, however i am not one to condone what they do rather i wish you all the luck in your passage to retrieving back your lands.
We are a Maori Kaporeihana (Incoporation)one of many, who swear our alligence to Te Whakaputanga ote Rangatiratanga o Aotearoa 1835(The Declaration of Independece) and Te Tiriti o Waitangi 1840 (Treaty of Waitangi)
Firstly we are not here to point the finger at anyone, cause for every finger you point their will always be three pointing back, this was quoted from a very dear Whanau member of ours Mr B Hake Rangiaho who passed earlier this year, and i would like to take this time to send our aroha and support to our sister and their whanau (love yous sissy forever).
Our people have been educated into believing that their lands have been, stolen, confiscated, sold etc. We were educated into learning how to live like a tauiwi there education system was not based on how to live as a maori which is our indigenous rite.
There are only two laws that maori have one is the Whakaputanga ote Rangatiratanga o aotearoa and the Te Tiriti o Waitangi as these are the only two laws which maori have agreed upon by hapu coming together within their collective capacity. All other laws have not been dealt with this way so all other laws do not pertain to maori but do pertain to the Queens subjects, those being the settlers parliament in Wellington. Who do not represent the Queen they represent the Clowns in the settlers parliament.
Please also understand that our fight is not with tauiwi (as the tupuna promised the queen that maori would take care of her subjects), only with the settlers parliament and affiliated associations.
The land has not been extinguished so all land in Aotearoa is unextinguished of the native title.
I hope this helps you all to understand thankyou all again for all the support if you would like further information please post to Omuriwaka Maori Inc 14A Howell Road Taneatua, Whakatane

Re: Confederation members set up road blockades and fight for their forest
like they said, they members of the 'maori kaporeihana' one of a few groups a part of the confederation groups that have their own lala land version of history and a pseudo religious ideology of obedience to the queen of england.why they not supported(your question), it is they that do not support the struggle of the tuhoe people,it is this group that has the audacity to claim that tuhoe people struggle for justice is mistaken struggle, somehow we all been conned.tuhoe people not saying we not supporter of these people, they ok there parked on the side of the road with their drugs and alcohol getting high on the colonisers medication, meawhile our struggle goes on around them, all we say is this not a tuhoe action, not mandated from the consensus of tuhoe people.we saying you want to use the tuhoe name, then get permission from tuhoe people otherwise you in danger of being another group come takahi te mana o tuhoe people.
