Don Brash Resigns

Don Announces Resignation

In awesome news for all those who have been under attack from the right Don Brash leader of the National party has just announced his resination. This comes as Nicky Hager investigative journalist is about to release a new book detailing alleged criminal and illegal acts by the national party's leadership.

The politician who rose to fame after racist attacks on minoritys and after campaigning on a stron moral platform has been shown to be the amoral liar we assumed he was. This resignation comes as as a relief to all those who were cynically targeted for his political success.

His resignation will come into effect at the national party caucus meeting where a new leader will be elected.Though as one radical youth member says "We only hope the public will not be decieved in future by Nationals anti worker, racist policys"

Re: Don Brash Resigns

At least with don brash in the lead of national we'd know national wouldn't get anywhere.

Re: Don Brash Resigns

Mr. Brash will be remembered by the 'Brash Dilemma'.

The precedent injunction of private information serves to protect individuals from Media frenzy on the one hand, but diluting the major political weapon of destruction on the other hand. It means that politicians may not be able to utilise their lenient media to advantage, and to influence public opinion. The protection of individuals and their families privacy therefore has projected a subjective imposition fueled by uncertainty. It is assumed that Mr. Brash has something to hide, but Mr. Brash himself may have very substantial reasons for the injunction. National is thus subjected to fear of public blemish from a supposedly hidden motive of the injunction.

But now the injunction has become a publicity promotion for the book of the one who has exposed the insides of the National Party - Emptiness.

Mr. Brash should have stuck to his guns and carry it through. He would have won a massive following on privacy issues. Instead his loyalty to the Party has led to his downfall. This means the National Party is driven by an outside source depended upon the Media, the front persons are mere puppets on a string.

There is no National Party, only hidden force proliferated by the Media. It needs a face, and their only hope now is Morality.

Re: Don Brash Resigns

Yeah. I felt the same when Brash replaced English. Who is the replacement going to be? John Key who could be successful as leader and be really dangerous, or the softer, less-offensive, and probably less successful English?

...or is there a third?

Either way the National Party seems to be in considerable strife organisationally, and apparently from Nicky's book as well - ideologically.

Re: Don Brash Resigns

Third option is Simon Power - the smiley smarmy one.

Re: Don Brash Resigns

Maybe the awful neo-liberals (no, not Labour) should put Katherine Rich in there somewhere.

She's Liberal both socially and economically, reasonably bright for a capitalist, articulate, married to an ex-All Black, lives in Dunedin, and a former goth.

In fact, she could probably replace Helen Clark in Labour and replace David Benson-Pope in Dunedin South.

Re: Don Brash Resigns (, national will reign)

Brash used envy and racism to capitalise on labours arrogance and took the nats to within a hairbreadth of power.
Key / Rich / Brownlee have the capacity to get them over the line with more of the same.

Labours' cuts, waiting lists, stadiums, bureacratic methods of mediating social issues and conflicts and overall arrogant techocratism increasingly undermine its ability to win in '07.

The only parliamentary barrier to a national government simple-majority in 2007 will be a 'grand coalition' of the right-social democrats (greens, Maori, progressives and labour)and their outright petite-bourgeoise collegues(NZ first, united future).

Such a mundane melange' will mean another 3 years of stagnation for the countries workers. The junior partners in such a fix-up would impede any 'progressive' component of legislation, ultimately leading to an even larger electoral loss for this bloc in the future.

The left-parliamentary opposition; left-social democrats (Alliance) and the Socialists (Workers Party, CL) have not capitalised on workers dissillusionment during the last period of labour rule. These groups have little social implantation or visibility and will fare poorly with campaigns that garner few votes.

Unions, umbilically tied to labour (or the politics of labour, where they have given up on an actual affiliation fee), have similarly missed out on building a social movement to compliment their industrial campaigns.
Union intervention in the elections will again be limited to pathetic calls to support labour as the 'lesser evil'. Hardly a clarion call to mobilise the workers.

Time to celebrate now that brash has 'gone'?
Hmmm....

Re: Don Brash Resigns

Who really cares about Don Brash resigning? I sure as hell don't! I'm sure he won't be missed. Like as we miss: Jim Bodger, Jenny Shipley and Bill English. The last leader of the National Party that made any real difference was Sir Robert Muldoon and it is still debateable if his leadership was positive or not. The only other person that made a difference from the National Party was Ruth(less) Richardson and I am sure many here will agree with me that she was awful by slashing welfare payments in the early 1990s. All what the National Party are greedy selfish people dressed in suits looking after themselves and other people dressed in suits!

Greatest Don Brash Moment?

Re: Don Brash Resigns

second greatest moment

Re: Don Brash Resigns

Whilst Don Brash is clearly a shady character and has a few skeletons in the closet for sure...Nicky Hager is nothing more than a liberal conspiracy theorist.
He is a poor researcher who tends make leaps of logic or else writes about things like spy networks which are kept state secrets so his theories can't be fully blown out of the water.
He is a sad attention seeker and deserves considerably less credit than is given to him.
