Animal rights group disgusted but not surprised by spying

Media Release: Wellington Animal Rights Network
Animal rights group disgusted but not surprised over corporate spying.
A Wellington Animal Rights group spied on by Thompson & Clark
Investigations says it is disgusted but not surprised by the spying.

Wellington Animal Rights Network Spokesperson Mark Eden says they
always expected to be targeted by industries afraid of exposure and
criticism.

"The animal abuse industries have a vested interest in trying to
undermine and sabotage the activities of those groups who are
committed to exposing animal cruelty,
The companies profiting from vivisection and factory farming are
afraid of debate and afraid of public opinion. That's why they operate
in secret and that's why they hire private investigators to infiltrate
our groups, read our emails and follow us around".

"Public opinion is turning against factory farming and animal research
and no amount of spying and dirty tricks can stop the fight against
animal cruelty".

"It is a disgrace that Thompson & Clark have resorted to such
underhanded and potentially illegal tactics. We demand to know who
exactly was paying for information on our groups activities." said Mr Eden

Re: Animal rights group disgusted but not surprised by spying

No doubt the same spying happens in other AR groups. It might pay for them to take a hard look at the people involved. If it can happen with WARN then there's nothing stopping it happening again elsewhere.

Sounds like the former Soviet Union - but that was a KGB secret police state, not like here right?
The cops and SIS have plenty of files on activists too.
