In solidarity with Indigenous Aboriginal Communities
BLACK FRIDAY RALLY
WELLINGTON, AOTEAROA / NZ
Fri 13th July 2007
Activists and concerned citizens gathered at the Australian High Commission, Wellington New Zealand today to oppose John Howard’s federal invasion of the Northern Territory. Messages of solidarity to the Aboriginal peoples were expressed, statements of John Howard’s “no friend of mine”, “This is a land grab” and “Howard’s priorities are free market interests not Aboriginal welfare” were made. A statement was delivered to the Australian High Commissioner, John Douth demanding the Australian Govt recognise, resource and action the “The Children are Sacred” report.
Today’s rally coincides with a weekend of international action condeming John Howard’s arbitrary response to Aboriginal welfare.
Citizens will march thru the streets of Wellington tomorrow, Sat 14th April 2007 to further pressure the Australian Govt into recognising Aboriginal rights.
