As they say all things must come to an end and Auckland Animal Action is doing just that.
For over ten years now AAA has been standing up for all animals whether they be on factory farms, in labs or on a farm. We have had great success with our Fur Free Auckland campaign and efforts to expose the reality of factory farming through public education and the media. We stand behind the idea of animal liberation and have not been afraid to use confrontational tactics nor have we shied away from the tricky issues such as possum fur.
But the time has come for a fresh start. By no means are the members of AAA any less committed to animal liberation nor are we dropping out of the struggle. Rather we are taking the chance to heal ourselves from the loss of our dear friend Suzy and are moving forward with new tactics, new ideas and a new look at how best to achieve animal liberation.
That said we have one matter to attend to in true AAA style; this being World Lab Animal Week. Please come along and let us exit with a bang.
We will be holding demonstrations through out the week and the animals need you to attend. Animal researchers need to see that there is no support for their cruel and murderous 'science'.
Timetable of Actions:
Saturday 19th April - Meet outside the Takapuna Mall (opposite the Burger King) at 7.30am ; we will move to our demonstration from there. If you would like to come and do not have transport email us and we will see what we can sort out.
Monday 21st April - Phone in Happy Hours to GlaxoSmithKline between 2 - 4pm . They can be contacted on the following numbers 0800 808 500 or 0800 804 040.
**** Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) is Europe 's largest contract animal testing laboratory. GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) are Huntingdon's single largest customer. They use HLS for experiments every single day and are responsible for the pain and suffering of thousands of animals every year. There is an international campaign to shut down HLS and there are demonstrations and actions world wide targeting GSK as part of this.
Thursday 24th April (World Lab Animal Day) - Meet at the entrance to the Winter Gardens in the Auckland Domain at 12 noon . Please do not be late to this one.
We have plaquards, leaflets and banners but please feel free to bring your as well.
For more information about animal testing in Aotearoa please visit

For more information please about these actions please email aucklandanimalaction (at) yahoo.com
Thank you to all of those who have supported us over the years; we could not have done it without you. Do not give up the fight for animal liberation; AAA is merely one tool in the tool box. There are many more and we need to use them all.
See you in the streets for World Lab Animal Week.
With love and solidarity

Science
I support animal liberationists when they are against things like battery hens, but when you start attacking scientists who are developing things that will make human lives better, you lose all my support.

Re: AAA's last demo
AAA has been campaigning in Auckland for a long time now and I think that we have a lot to be proud of but there always comes a time when you need to sit back and re-assess the situation.
It is time for those involved in AAA to have a well deserved break and look at the best way forward for the animals. No one is giving up and no one is dropping out. We are all still as committed as every in fighting animal abuse and part of that is taking stock of what we have done, what worked and what hasn't so that we are fighting as effectively and efficiently as possible for the animals.
At the end of the day this is all about them not about AAA as a name or group it is about what is best for the animals.
There may be a while where there are no demo's in Auckland but I am sure that this will not be for long. But remember demo's are only one way of fighting animal abuse and while it is important to have a presence on the streets we all have side projects that are just as useful as demos and these will continue in the interim.

Direct action works!
hands off the research labs
Do you value the life of mice over the life of humans? over me?
I'm sorry that some animals have to endure horrific tests, but we are all benefiting from animal testing. If it were for medical research on animals in the past, I would be dead now.

Re: AAA's last demo
this statement is not correct, please provide examples, because there is so much info available to dispute that ,please take some time and read the websites available.Researchers recieve grants to do research, its publish or peril, the easeist route is animal testing(most even acknowledge it is useless)it pays their bills,in fact developments have been made NOT using animals, its just a matter of educating yourself instead of just accepting the lies

Re: AAA's last demo
You idiots that think animal testing has no benefits go have a read of that link. It's just one example.
You are being fooled by zealots if you think animal testing is not needed.
Re: AAA's last demo
What do the animals get out of it?

You are an idiot. The knowledge gained from testing on mice is a first step. It can and is used in developing treatments for humans (and other animals).
