AAA's last demo

As they say all things must come to an end and Auckland Animal Action is doing just that.
For over ten years now AAA has been standing up for all animals whether they be on factory farms, in labs or on a farm. We have had great success with our Fur Free Auckland campaign and efforts to expose the reality of factory farming through public education and the media. We stand behind the idea of animal liberation and have not been afraid to use confrontational tactics nor have we shied away from the tricky issues such as possum fur.

But the time has come for a fresh start. By no means are the members of AAA any less committed to animal liberation nor are we dropping out of the struggle. Rather we are taking the chance to heal ourselves from the loss of our dear friend Suzy and are moving forward with new tactics, new ideas and a new look at how best to achieve animal liberation.

That said we have one matter to attend to in true AAA style; this being World Lab Animal Week. Please come along and let us exit with a bang.

We will be holding demonstrations through out the week and the animals need you to attend. Animal researchers need to see that there is no support for their cruel and murderous 'science'.

Timetable of Actions:

Saturday 19th April - Meet outside the Takapuna Mall (opposite the Burger King) at 7.30am ; we will move to our demonstration from there. If you would like to come and do not have transport email us and we will see what we can sort out.

Monday 21st April - Phone in Happy Hours to GlaxoSmithKline between 2 - 4pm . They can be contacted on the following numbers 0800 808 500 or 0800 804 040.
**** Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) is Europe 's largest contract animal testing laboratory. GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) are Huntingdon's single largest customer. They use HLS for experiments every single day and are responsible for the pain and suffering of thousands of animals every year. There is an international campaign to shut down HLS and there are demonstrations and actions world wide targeting GSK as part of this.

Thursday 24th April (World Lab Animal Day) - Meet at the entrance to the Winter Gardens in the Auckland Domain at 12 noon . Please do not be late to this one.

We have plaquards, leaflets and banners but please feel free to bring your as well.

For more information about animal testing in Aotearoa please visit www.stopvivisection.org.nz/about.htm

For more information please about these actions please email aucklandanimalaction (at) yahoo.com

Thank you to all of those who have supported us over the years; we could not have done it without you. Do not give up the fight for animal liberation; AAA is merely one tool in the tool box. There are many more and we need to use them all.

See you in the streets for World Lab Animal Week.

With love and solidarity

AAA

Re: AAA's last demo

dont give up,have some time off you deserve it,isnt there a vivisection conference there soon? any group doing it thing for it?

Re: AAA's last demo

It is not a matter of giving up at all it is a matter of finding a way forward for the animals and the movement. There are other groups that the work AAA has started can be transfered to. By no means will the vivisectors be forgotten.

The fight will continue for animal liberation.

In solidarity

Re: AAA's last demo

Choice. Look after yourselves. Tautoko, tautoko...

Look forward to your return ;o)

Re: AAA's last demo

Your crew did some pretty inspiring stuff. Thanks on behalf of the animals

Re: AAA's last demo

This news really saddens me. AAA has done some great really effective stuff.

Science

lets hope you don't get any chronic diseases. Or are you prepared to take the animals place in the labs when tests are being done to develop medicine?

I support animal liberationists when they are against things like battery hens, but when you start attacking scientists who are developing things that will make human lives better, you lose all my support.

Re: AAA's last demo

some of the best time of my time in akl i've spent with you guys. sorry i can't be there at the end. love you all and make it a splash.

Re: AAA's last demo

"attacking scientists that are making lives better"
Im sorry but this is a really ignorant statement, vivisection is not curing or helping human health at all ,in fact it is hindering progress ,ill leave you with a cpl website links

Re: AAA's last demo

Who's going to protest and demo against animal abuse in Auckland with the AAA taking a break? SAFE won't since they are so bloody hopeless, so who's left to speak for those that cannot?

Re: AAA's last demo

Hi there,

AAA has been campaigning in Auckland for a long time now and I think that we have a lot to be proud of but there always comes a time when you need to sit back and re-assess the situation.

It is time for those involved in AAA to have a well deserved break and look at the best way forward for the animals. No one is giving up and no one is dropping out. We are all still as committed as every in fighting animal abuse and part of that is taking stock of what we have done, what worked and what hasn't so that we are fighting as effectively and efficiently as possible for the animals.

At the end of the day this is all about them not about AAA as a name or group it is about what is best for the animals.

There may be a while where there are no demo's in Auckland but I am sure that this will not be for long. But remember demo's are only one way of fighting animal abuse and while it is important to have a presence on the streets we all have side projects that are just as useful as demos and these will continue in the interim.

Love AAA

Re: AAA's last demo

I'm sure those of us that are involved with the AAA that are also involved with ALF will still continue with ALF's good deeds.

Direct action works!

hands off the research labs

just keep away from the science labs that are trying so hard to cure my chronic disease.

Do you value the life of mice over the life of humans? over me?

I'm sorry that some animals have to endure horrific tests, but we are all benefiting from animal testing. If it were for medical research on animals in the past, I would be dead now.

Re: AAA's last demo

so, where does one go for animal rights? safe is too safe. I've just moved to Auckland, and I want to get involved in such thihngs

Re: AAA's last demo

"but we are all benefitting from animal testing"
this statement is not correct, please provide examples, because there is so much info available to dispute that ,please take some time and read the websites available.Researchers recieve grants to do research, its publish or peril, the easeist route is animal testing(most even acknowledge it is useless)it pays their bills,in fact developments have been made NOT using animals, its just a matter of educating yourself instead of just accepting the lies

Re: AAA's last demo

"how fortunate we didnt have these animal tests in the 1940s,for penicillin would probably never been granted a licence ,and possibly the whole field of antibiotics might never have been realised"-Sir Alexander Fleming, discoverer of penicillian

www.genomenewsnetwork.org/articles/07_03/diabetes.shtml

You idiots that think animal testing has no benefits go have a read of that link. It's just one example.

You are being fooled by zealots if you think animal testing is not needed.

Re: AAA's last demo

Animal testing is like whale 'research' from Japan, bogus.

What do the animals get out of it?

Re: AAA's last demo

so, where does one go for animal rights? safe is too safe. I've just moved to Auckland, and I want to get involved in such things...

DIY or DIE - do it yourself, set a group up and go for it.

or check out AAA or open rescue's websites.

Re: AAA's last demo

to third poster above, your ignorance is unbelievable ,they have cured diabetes in mice,so what! mice are not humans they are no closer to curing diabetes in humans and never will using animals, zealots!? are these ppl zealots www.pnc.com.au

Re: AAA's last demo

why dont these ppl start questioning the status quo for once theres so much rational info against animal "research" but they continue to stick head in sand

Re: AAA's last demo

the pnc.com.au link is wrong and should be

Re: AAA's last demo

"to third poster above, your ignorance is unbelievable ,they have cured diabetes in mice,so what! mice are not humans they are no closer to curing diabetes in humans and never will using animals, zealots!?"

You are an idiot. The knowledge gained from testing on mice is a first step. It can and is used in developing treatments for humans (and other animals).

Re: AAA's last demo

"So where does one go for animal rights? Safe is too safe. I've just moved to Auckland and I want to get involved in such things."

Get in touch with ALF via the AAA.

Re: AAA's last demo

"your an idiot" theres no need to resort to insults because you cant come up with a better argument ,tests on mice do not lead to any cures or treatments for humans it is usually the only step "researchers" take .They have found up to 200 ways of curing cancer in rats and mice yet are no closer to curing it in humans.
"while conflicting animal results have often delayed and hampered advances in the war on cancer, they have never produced a single substantial advance in either the prevention or treatment of human cancer"-Dr Irwin Bross, former director of the worlds largest cancer research institute-the Sloan -Kettering

Re: AAA's last demo

it was tests on animals that insulin was discovered. Indeed, insulin was harvested from animals and used to treat human diabetics (nowadays synthetic insulin is used, first tested on animals).

But I guess you would have rathered the pigs and cattle lived and the humans died.

Re: AAA's last demo

your ignorance is showing again, insulin was NOT discovered by animal tests,Banting and Best two vivisecters spent years experimenting on agonized dogs in insulin research, despite advances made before them in non animal research,it was actually a in vitro scientist that purifyed insulin

Re: AAA's last demo

animal testing is disgusting ,especially when most scum vivisectors know themselves its useless but it keeps them in a job ,ANZCCART is a sham there to keep the industry going
